Which HDMI Splitter to buy??

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on the forum, although been reading posts for a while.

I suspect that this question may have already been answered as well but would be grateful for any advice anyone can give me.

I am looking to buy a HDMI spliter preferably 1 input x 2 output

The 1 input is my PS3, the first output will be a HD monitor (PS3 games) and the second output will be a HDTV via an onkyo 577 AV Receiver (PS3 Games and Blu-Ray Movies).

I've been looking at different options, makes and brands and can't seem to decided what would be best.

I don't really want to spend anymore than £70 - £75 ish

Thank you for any help and advice that can be given.

Excellent product - it just works with no fuss!!

Be aware though that I had problems using one with an amstrad sky hd box but it may have been sorted with a power supply (email neet for info) - it was easier to get sky to replace the (pants) amstrad for a pace!

I Wouldn't recommend this one.

I have my amp outputting HDMI into this and then it splitting off to the television and the projector. However the image will only display on the TV if I have both the television and projector turned on. So I have to turn on the projector so the image appears on the television and then turn off the projector just to have a single image on the TV. Terrible.

The Neet splitter works superbly well but I have discovered that I need to use the external power supply..... when one hdmi output is not handshaked to tv...in other words if one tv is taking a dvd or bd input direct to tv then the other the hdmi cable from the sky hd box via the splitter does not sync properly. Without the ext power I loose sound on the other hdmi cable or sometimes sound and vision. Plugging in the ext power sorted this!

Of course you need to use it with the supplied power adaptor, how else is it supposed to work?

Some switches and splitters are designed to leach power from the HDMI cable but this is a bad idea and not what the power line in the HDMI spec was intended for.

If anyone has problems with such a device then the first thing to do is always attach the external power supply.

I was just about to order the cableson splitter, but saw the link for the neet, and prefer independent viewing without having the need for both targets to be on.

Taking rock band playing to the extreme!! Going to be having main plasma screen on for the band and having a smaller screen to my Roland drum kit programmed in to play on't drums too :D. Cash back!

I purchased the Neet but now my XBOX 360 has HDCP issues with my television/projector. Does the cost of the splitter determine whether these issues occur?

Its not the cost that matters, it's the quality.
Quality costs more than cheap stuff though

Try the Octava HDDA12.

Many factors contribute to system compatibility - there is a lot going on behind the scenes within the HDMI pipeline.

The retail price of a unit is not a good indicator of what will work for you and what wont.

As you've found out even 'recommendations' can be a bum steer with HDMI - some low cost gear will work for some folk but wont be as universally system compatible compared with other designs.

Its also worth noting that some designs do give you more chance of success if the manufacturer/supplier has the ability to load various Firmware options to enable you to find a work around where you are facing compatibility issues.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd update this post with a quick review of the Neet HDMI splitter. I have the Neet splitter about 1m away from PS3 and split the single between a viewsonice 24" hdmi monitor (using a cheap 1m HDMI cable) and my 32" Panasonic Viera TV going via a Onkyx AV Reciever using better quality HDMI Cables.

Have had no issues at all with the product it works perfect for what I need I can play my PS3 on my monitor or TV and watch Blu-Ray's on the TV with decent surround sound ...... would recommend this lil product, if it wasn't for the red light that appears when it is active I wouldn't even know it is there. Also haven't needed to use the power adapter that can with it either, actually this is my only grumble if I did need to use the power adapter the cable on the plug is tiny maybe a metre in length but this is the only issue I have found to date.

Just bought one of these neet 1x2 splitters

Plugged in the 3 HDMI leads and it works fine with no power supply [it was supplied though]

My set up is a 46 inch panasonic plasma 1m cable and a philips 23 inch lcd on a 10 m cable

The picture on both tv's is stunning

And they can be on or off for any to work

And only £30 from ebay

And still using the mouse on the co-axial cable to change channels

Looking for an HDMI splitter as well.
The length of run to the second tv is just under 10 meters, which I was going to use a 10 meter HDMI cale.
Anybody know if the neet would do the job, or for this length of run would I be better running Cat 5e/6 through baluns? instead of a long HDMI cable?
