Advise on cables to buy and splitter to buy...

Hello,

Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place, I am new and it's a little confusing for me!

I am going to buy an HDMI Splitter and a 10 meter HDMI cable, and run it from my SKY HD box in my living room to my second TV in my bedroom. I know this will mean I only have access to the one box in either room, but I am happy with this...

My questions are:

What is the medium to best HDMI splitter, bearing in mind both my TVs are LCD 1080 new TVs.

What is the medium to best HDMI 10 meter cable to buy.

I don't want to break the bank, but neither do I want to do extensive cable management only to find the cable is a little naf, or the splitter doesn't work - advise would be awesome!

Thank you to all!

Ben

PS will I also need an optical going to the TV in the other room, or will the HDMI cable suffice for sound through as its SKY HD + box

Re: Advise on cables to buy and splitter to buy...

Hi can only tell you what has worked for me.

I send all my sources to a TV and projector, the projector is 12M away, so I purchased the following:-
Cable - Blue Jeans Cable -- Quality Cables at Reasonable Prices
Neet splitter - Neet® - 2 Way HDMI SPLITTER BOX 1x2 Port - Active: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo.

This works perfectley well for me. Hope that helps.

If you need it a bit cheeper then you can probably get a cheaper cable that will work fine, as you say though I didn't want to put cable in walls etc, only to find out 6 months down the line it didn't work properly with some equipment.

SkyHD will only output 720P or 1080i anyway so not really relevant, only problem might be it'll work now but if you later use the same cable for full HD stuff (maybe a bluray or PS3 then you may run into limitations of the cable. Unless you have a 1080P source you'll have no way to test this.

The SkyHD HDMi will supply stereo sound only. If you want proper 5.1 surround you'll need a way of getting the digital signal to the 2nd room. If you only have stereo speakers or are using the TVs sound then just HDMI will be fine.
