Octava HDMICAT or 20 metres HDMI cable?

Hello,

I'm making some changes in my living room, and I'll need one of two:
1. A 20 metres HDMI to my projector
2. A pair of CAT5/6 baluns to carry the HDMI signal

Which one would you use?

I'm looking at the Octava HDMICAT. Anybody got any problems with these ones?

Re: Octava HDMICAT or 20 metres HDMI cable?

Hello movie_fan,
I would use Octava HDOCAT-UK HDMI + Optical CAT5 extender with IR Passthru

As it includes IR Passthru and Optical Out

Have'nt had any issues with the unit as yet.

Octava HDMICAT problems

Well, I got an Octava HDMICAT and began testing tonight. I got a few problems, so I would ask for anyone's help regarding this.

I'm connecting my Lumagen processor to my Hitachi TX200 projector using two 20 metre CAT6 cables.

HDMI cable on processor's output is a Mark Grant G1080. HDMI cable to projector is a Copartner HDMI 1.3. Both are 2 metre lengths.

So I started testing, and got problems when setting the VP's output to 1080p50 or 1080p60. From time to time, the projector would loose sync on the HDMI input.

1080p24 got no problems, but even in one of the test runs the problem showed up with 720p60.

I know the PJ has a 720p panel, but this never happened when connecting the VP directly.

I'm also thinking of buying a 1080p projector, so...

Any ideas for this?

Ok, I solved that.

Most of the CAT6 cables used was still in a roll, so unrolling them up fixed it.
