Unhappy PS3 No Sound using HDMI to Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S10D (NEED HELP)

Hi All (esp pros & experts)

Just bought a new Panasonic Plasma TV (TC-P42S10D) with 3 HMDI ports and a home theatre and a PS3. It's been setup easily, the home theatre plugged into the HDMI1 port and it works perfect, dvd, music, ipod sounds, etc.,

But when i setup my PS3 connected either to HDMI 2 or 3, there's no sound at all... though the graphics is perfect on 1080p output. At first, when setting up the PS3 it asked for the connections if you agree about the HDMI 1080p connections and Sounds.

I managed to setup the TV to HDMI 2 or 3 to digital and PS3 to HDMI connection. Still, no audio.

What seems to be the problem here? Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you checked the sound settings in the PS3 config menu?

Also, where are you expecting to hear the sound? If it is the home cinema system do you have a digital connection from the TV back to it?

Re: PS3 No Sound using HDMI to Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S10D (NEED HELP)

Hi Mark,

Have you checked the sound settings in the PS3 config menu?
- I did checked the PS3 Config menu and it's on HDMI automatic.

Also, where are you expecting to hear the sound? If it is the home cinema system do you have a digital connection from the TV back to it?
- Nope i'm not that far yet, but I'd like to hear the sound first from the TV.

Just reading same topics and with the same problem here, maybe restarting the PS3 too may resolved it.

Thanks.

Re: PS3 No Sound using HDMI to Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S10D (NEED HELP)

There have been a few posts of late from folk with some generic cables that have issues with 1080p so definitely worth trying a different cable.

Have you tried the PS3 into port 1 of the TV?

Rather than using 'Auto' try to manually configure the HDMI audio options on the PS3.
