Dear all,
I've been trying to tidy up my kit over the past few weeks, but I've uncovered an annoying issue.
I have a PS3, Sky HD and Panasonic BD35 Blu Ray player connected to a Panasonic Th-37PX70 plasma and a PTAE3000 projector through a 3 in, 2 out switch splitter from HDcables - like this one:
HDMI Switch Splitter 3x2 - Pro-2
This works flawlessly and I've programmed it into my Pronto remote and everything switches perfectly.
The problem is with the Blu Ray player and the TV. The TV is a couple of years old and won't display 24p properly - it will accept it from the PS3 (which can be forced to output 24p) and show it at 60hz with pulldown judder. However, I can't force the blu-ray player to show 24p - even with the Plasma switched off, it still "knows" it is connected and the 24p option is grayed out. This of course means that I can't send 24p to the projector either, without physically unplugging the HDMI cable from the back of the TV.
I'm not fussed about watching blu rays on the TV, so I'm happy not to have it connected in that way. But I do want to have only one cable running to the projector, so I don't want to run another lead direct from the blu ray player to the pj.
Could I add an auto HDMI switch between my existing switch-splitter and the projector? Like this one:
HDMI Auto-Switch 2x1 - Pro-2 - HDMI Switcher
Or would it be better with a remote control one like this:
HDMI Switch 3x1 - Pro-2 - HDMI Switcher
I can happily integrate the remote one into my pronto to get it to seamlessly switch as required. Question is, will it all work?
I'd have - PS3 and Sky HD into existing switch-splitter, then two outputs from there - one direct to TV, the other into the new switch. The blu-ray player would also go directly into the new switch, with the output going straight to the projector.
Audio is all handled by optical, so I don't need to worry.
Sounds complicated huh?
Thanks for reading this far!
