Forgive the idiot noob AV distribution questions please!

Been doing a lot of readin on these forums but there are so many options out there I've got myself in a bit of a pickle.

We are about to have our house renovated (incl new flooring laid throughout the ground floor) and it seems like a good time to be hiding cables.

Here's the eventual set up:

Living room:

Plasma
Amp
Sky HD
DVD

Den:

Plasma
Projector
Amp
Sky HD
Xbox 360
Blu Ray

Master bedroom:

LCD

I need the most cost effective (read cheap but works!) kit to:

(a)ensure all three sources in the den can be viewed on either Plasma or Projector; and

(b)Run off SKY HD from the den to the master bedroom

Running cables in the walls not an option but an external run of Cat6 easy to do and out of sight unless you're in my neighbours upstairs loo!

Can I use use an HDMI splitter from the Amp in the den to feed both PJ and projector and then use the third HDMI out from the splitter via a balun to run upstairs Sky HD feed to master bedroom?

Is there a better way to acheive what I'm after without spending a fortune?

Again, apologies if this goes over ground already covered - it's just tough for a technical incompetant like myself to assess the relative merits of the wealth of advice to be found on these forums

Lots of ways to cover this one.

If your going to use an AV Amp as a switch and then distribute the output of the Amp ensure you get one that allows HDMI signal Passthru in standby mode - otherwise your Amp needs to be powered up just to pass a signal through to the bedroom.

In many systems its more practical to 'split' the distributed signal before the AV Amp with the AV Amp being fed by one output of the Distributed Amp.

Cascading Source > DA > Extender is perfectly feasible - though not all combinations of kit will go together as readily as others.

What's the problem with running the cables internally if your renovating?
