Coax Rf Input to RCA Outputs?

My son-in-law is stationed in Europe and receives Armed Forces Network (analog) cable TV feed. The signal is terrible and varies throughout the day. I hooked up a video amp and that is a little better, but I bought and installed an Onkyo 607 AV receiver and I would like to use it to upscale his video signal. There are no RF inputs on the Onkyo, so I need RCA red, white, yellow to run it through the reciever. How can I convert the Rf cable input to RCAs?

Re: Coax Rf Input to RCA Outputs?

You will need some kind of de-modulator to convert the RF to a video signal...

not sure if you can do this cost effectively.... a quick Google took me to this one...

Keene Electronics

Hopefully you can find a cheaper alternative.

However - i'm highly skeptical that upscaling this signal would help in any way - its going to be pretty poor at best i'd suspect.

Re: Coax Rf Input to RCA Outputs?

I'm almost positive their TV signal is NTSC not Pal/Secam. This would ensure that their electronics would work when they come home. I was thinking that a TV tuner/converter with analog pass-through (to the RCA outllets) would work.
