Monsters Inc on Disney Cinematic HD

Monsters Inc is showing on Disney Cinematic HD on Monday 4th May at 5pm

Last time this was shown was on BBCHD a couple of years ago, but in plain vanilla stereo looked good but sounded crap

So, look and learn BBCHD, this is how it should be done

May the 4th be with you.......

Re: Monsters Inc on Disney Cinematic HD

Very nice, the DVD is fantastic on the plasma so I'm not in a rush to buy the upcoming Blu-ray but it'll be nice to see it in HD to wet me appetite

The popcorn is on order, this will "hopefully" be stunning, will tide me over until the BD arrives later in the year.

Re: Monsters Inc on Disney Cinematic HD

I have just seen last night through the planner that the film is run three times on the Monday, starting from 11am, so they have changed the timing.

I have also noticed in the past that transmissions of Bugs Life at two different times of the day had noticable differences in picture quality. So, sad as I am, I will be recording all three and keeping the best quality

Pity, was it 5.1 on the BBC and they are using the same HD master or perhaps along with the DOG protecting a later blu release.

Re: Monsters Inc on Disney Cinematic HD

All the listings I can find state DD5.1, here's hoping the 5pm broadcast isn't the same

But the PQ looks amazing

It wasn't 5.1 on the BBC either.
If they were protecting the blu release, maybe the same would have happened with Bugs life, but that was perfect. I'll check in on the later showing.

Ps - Even the info bar states that it's DD

Good point, Bugs Life is out on Blu in the US in a couple of weeks.
It does sound like they saved money by simply using an existing master.

Sounded great to me, I am sure mine came through add DD 5.1 on my amp.

I had the original BBCHD transmission two Christmases ago, but lost it when I had to change the box. The sound was ten times better than then, but I think the picture although more colourful and saturated today on Cinematic was not as good as the BBCHD one.

Re: Monsters Inc on Disney Cinematic HD

Another bloomin failed recording for me. GRR!

And when I switched over to check the pq, it wasn't in DD 5.1. Thought it might be a bug so changed the channel, rebooted the box and turned on/off the amp, same thing.

Looked absolutely fantastic though! The level of detail on all the hairs was excellent.
