Thumbs down The names Con....James Con...

Having a look at the exclusive Bond double bills coming our way in High Definition from our friends at Sky, I can't help feeling a little conned...lets have a look at whats on shall we? The number in the brackets is the number of times that film has been shown during this season.

SUNDAY 8 FEB
20.00 -Casino Royale (1)
22.30 - From Russia With Love (1)

MONDAY 9 FEB
20.00 - From Russia With Love (2)
22.05 - The Man With The Golden Gun (1)

TUESDAY 10 FEB
20.00 - The Man With The Golden Gun (2)
22.15 - Casino Royale (2)

WEDNESDAY 11 FEB
20.00 - Casino Royale (3)
22.30 - You Only Live Twice (1)

THURSDAY 12 FEB
20.00 - You Only Live Twice (2)
22.00 - Tomorrow Never Dies (1)

FRIDAY 13 FEB
20.00 - Tomorrow Never Dies (2)
22.30 - Casino Royale (4)

Ten different time slots, five different films - now I'm not a betting man, but I'd lay a months money on the fact that Casino Royale will be on at 20.00 on Sat 14 as well...add the fact that it's on today as well, that's 7 showings in 7 days - talk about wearing a film out!

Keep your money in your pocket!! Sunday 14th is Goldfinger and Live and Let Die!! Three more titles appear that week, making the ten that Sky have announced they're showing.

Hardy a con!! Silly post TBH.

Do you think so...? Why didn't they just put two different films over five nights then...?

Silly statement if you ask me...

Re: The names Con....James Con...

Casino Royale must be one of the most screened films ever on Sky Movies. It seems to be on at least three times a week. Its been showing since Christmas Day 2007. Goodness knows how many screenings it has had since then!

By the way later in the month the spoof Casino Royale starring David Niven is also showing on Sky Movies so when you see Casino Royale lsited yet again it may well be the 1967 film which doesnt deserve to even be classed as a Bond film.

Because more people will get the chance to watch the films if they are each on more than once?

What is wrong with that?

My vote is for silly thread!

Re: The names Con....James Con...

Really thoughtless scheduling from Sky tomorrow - they should've put From Russia With Love (first showing) on BEFORE Casino Royale (been on Hundreds of times). Some of us have work on Monday morning!

I'm hoping FRWL will turn up on Anytime overnight so I'm not stuck with their daft scheduling.

Re: The names Con....James Con...

What exactly is the point of the thread or the issue with linear broadcast schedules for an all PVR audience?

I'm not being awkward but honestly puzzled.

Re: The names Con....James Con...

I was actually referencing the fact that they chose to show one film in particular four times in a short season - if it goes on into next week as well, we'll probably get the chance to see it a few more times as well...

Apologies for starting a thread that some people didn't find useful or informative - maybe I should be tied to a big block of gold and have my ******** fried with a laser beam or something...

Well CR is probably nearing it's rights period so they are slapping it on all over the place but again not that unexpected especially as new customers are coming onboard everyday. The problem with movies in particular is how often are they repeated to maximise rights costs but also to cover new customers while not saturating the existing audience.
There is no easy answer but in the PVR age it really doesn't matter that much it's not as if any SKY HD movie subscriber will miss a new HD version of a Bond movie thanks to CR being shown 4 times.

Entertaining but SKY would repeat it so many times......

Six of them on my Anytime including the 1967 Casino royale. so what do we think? Disappointed to see Goldfinger and From Russia With love have black bars at the side of the screen.

I wouldn't be as they were shot at 1.78.1 and 1.66.1 anyway.
