Earl and Brothers & Sisters - C4HD

Hi All,

Please find below a reply from Channel 4 regarding My Name Is Earl and Brothers & Sisters. I asked why both shows are being broadcast on More 4 and E4 and not on C4HD. I also asked when the shows will be broadcast on C4HD. Not a wonderful response.......

MY NAME IS EARL and BROTHERS AND SISTERS are shown on E4 and More4 due to a
decision by the scheduling department. There are no plans at present to
show both series on Channel 4 in HD, or for More4 or E4 to be available in
HD. Please be assured that your comments and complaint regarding this have
been logged and distributed throughout Channel 4.

Missed the first Ep of Earl. Is it repeated anywhere other than online?

I wrote more specifically about their scheduling policy - ie simulcasting only Channel 4 and thus losing HD series such as Brothers and Sisters if downgraded to a non HD sister channel.

I also pointed to the way series like Reaper were screened in SD and then immediately afterwards in HD, creating obvious disappointment to their HD viewers.

I suggested that they could advise on their web site if HD rights were held to let viewers choose to wait and watch in HD later....or opt out of the Channel simulcast for an hour when HD available series were airing elsewhere.

Sadly the reply was to watch the schedules each week for any possible HD repeats!

To them it probably does. They know that hardly anyone bothers to watch E4 or More4 so they hope to gain some viewers by showing progs on those channels first.

Can't help thinking myself that E4, More4, FiveUS, BBC3 etc could be dispensed with completely and that would free up money to make better programmes. Unfortunately all broadcasters seem to think that what the viewing public wants is more and more channels rather than better programmes.
