Any news on Merlin being available on HD?

Or is it going to suffer Dr Who SD-ness.

Terrible! Really looking forward to seeing this as well. Another own goal by the BBC. How come this hasn't been made/ not being transmitted in HD, but we get bloomin Lark Rise to Candleford..? Disgraceful.

Merlin was shot in HD. I can only assume they will show it on BBC HD at some stage. I'll have to record the SD version, and let it stack up a few weeks in the hope of an HD showing.

Shame on you, BBC!

Did we really need another repeat of Wind in the Willows?

Re: Any news on Merlin being available on HD?

Do we really know this was shot in HD? Is there a source?

Acciording to threads elsewhere the same special effects team as did Dr Who had the same cost effective reasoning to NOT make this in HD.

I would find it unbelievable that BBC HD would not show one of their flagship series alongside BBC 1 if it was HD.

And nothing on the BBC promo info or press pack about this show says it is in HD.

It's showing in the US on NBC in the Spring, in a primetime slot of 8pm.

Hard to believe it hasn't been produced in HD.

I'm still waiting to see Rome Series 2 in HD here! Series one was shown in HD!

It's difficult to see any logic in the BBC HD schedules.

Isn't it funny how they manage to schedule so many repeats of stuff we've seen a million times before though! Anyone for more Lark Rise, or Bleak House?

Well this quote from one of today's BBC Blogs is the final nail in the coffin:-

Those of us on BBC HD felt that Merlin was a show that we should aim to deliver in high definition, but in the end it was shot in Super 16

Merlin WAS shown in full 720p goodness in the US, i downloaded them all, it certainly was not shot with standard cameras that was very very obvious.
The second series starts soon in the US too in 720p HD, i will be downloading the HD versions instead.

BBC suck.
