LA LIGA on SKY SPORTS. NO HD AGAIN??

The new La Liga season is almost upon us and as ever i cannott wait. I see there is no HD coverage yet again. Is this down to the fact there is no HD coverage available or is it just SKY been tight and saving money. I love la liga but the PQ is truly awful most of the time.

Anyone know the answer? cheers.

cheers. So it seems sky can recieve an HD feed but Dont due to cost and the lack of HD studio. To be fair though, i dont really give a damn if the Studio is HD or not as long as the game is in HD. Come on Sky give your paying customers what they require. Why should we have to watch poor PQ when quality PQ is available.

i love la liga. to see it in hd would be the icing on the cake as far as i'm concerned

I would much rather watch a match from La Liga than the Premier League to be honest. They don't put that much emphasis on defense and organisation and you therefore see far more exciting football. A perfect example of this was Zaragoza v Real Madrid near the end of last season. Come on Sky, show it in HD then you can advertise that all your live football is in HD.

Like others here, I much prefer Liga matches to Premier so I am not happy that Sky don't seem to be showing the matches in HD.

What is really frustrating is that the trails that Sky are running at the moment for their Sports coverage in HD actually shows Robinho playing in a Real Madrid shirt! Granted, if you wanna see Robinho now you'll need to watch a Premier match anyway but I sincerely hope that Sky start showing Liga matches in HD otherwise it seems to me that we are victims of false advertising

The PQ for the games last weekend were dreadful. Particulary the Depor vs Real madrid game. Sky have got to sort this out. Wheres the upscaling as well??? The pictures look no different on the HD channels as they do on SD.

I'm loath to use that EPG thing, it takes ages and manages to both annoy me with its long winded ways :|.

As far as I know SKY haven't even secured the contract for the UK rights to the league and lets face it if the price has gone up then SKY have been known to walk away because La Liga has nothing like the pulling power of the PL.

ESPN could also looking to get the rights, more footy especially the higher end European leagues could boost their portfolio and of course with SKY making money from an Dsat ESPN subscription....

As SD says, nobody has the rights yet. I read in the Times earlier about how there's only 6 days left til the season starts and nobody has secured the rights

Apparently it's £15m for Sky and they won't cough up...yet

I thought Sky got a 3 year deal or something about a year or so ago??? Im sure I remember something on revista saying it will be with us a for a few years??

It cannott go to ESPN. Sky gave us fantastic coverage plus revista was an excellent round up show.

come on sky, its the bloody best league in the world by far. How many 0-0 bores will our fantastic Prem produce this season??? More than la liga that is a cert.

If Sky does not get La Liga then they are mad.

It wouldn't be the worst thing if ESPN do take this over. The PQ could not be any worse and with any luck they might even show it in HD. Having said that I think Sky do a great job with the overall presentation and the midweek Revista programme. I would also be loathe to see Gerry Armstrong go if that were the case.

Looks like the matter has been sorted. The EPG now shows live games being on Sky on Saturday and Sunday. The EPG has changed since I looked earlier on. According to the EPG they are being shown in widescreen which is an improvement on last season. All we need now is HD!
