Olympics on Eurosport & BBC being recorded in 50Hz?

Most non-European sport seems to be jerky as hell

Not so with the HD Olympics coverage. Smooth as anything on Sky Sports HD. Does anyone know if they have 2 sets of feeds, or if they're doing something clever with the stuff for Eurosport and BBC?

China is a 50Hz country, so I expect they are shooting in 1080i50.

Re: Olympics on Eurosport & BBC being recorded in 50Hz?

When it comes to the Olympics on bbchd if it says it is hd in the info bar on sky is it really allways hd ? The reason i ask is cause sometimes i have thought i am not watching it in hd so i check on the sky info bar and that says it's in hd. Maybe it is just a bad hd broadcast at the time ?

Good question. I think some of the HD is a little suspect.

Of course the news and weather inserts aren't HD, but the DOG and EPG can't change for a couple of minutes.

Re: Olympics on Eurosport & BBC being recorded in 50Hz?

I think it will be to do with the different cameras they use to, i was watching the swimming today and the camera that was being used from what looked like the embankment looked hd but when it switched scenes to a camera that might of been in a boat it looked like sd.
