Question BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

BBC Press Release says this was recorded in HD.

It says it will be shown on BBC1, 2 and 4 and online; for different aspects of of the program.

No mention of if they will use BBC HD to show this HD material!

Anyone from the BBC with any information?

Surely it's obvious if it is in HD it will be shown on BBC HD. Where else could they show it in HD?

It's listed in HD programmes here http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbchd/index.shtml

Re: BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

Thanks.

I would still like to know why no mention of the BBC HD channel in the press pack?

Will all of the programmes shown on BBC1,2 and 4 be shown on BBC HD?

Series 2 of Rome was produced in HD, however that hasn't shown up on BBC HD yet. But then it's not in that list either!

Re: BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

The current series of Last of the Summer Wine, now half way through screening in SD on BBC 1, was also filmed in HD (as were the last two series). (Which were shown at the same time on BBC HD by the way)

I have asked BBC HD why they are not showing this on there in HD and they say that they will eventually.

Why on earth they are scheduling HD programmes like this is baffling as surely people are not going to wait months to see when or if they do show them in HD. If they want to watch they will watch in SD. Because this kind of action is giving them no alternative other than to guess if it is in HD and will turn up in HD and if so then when.

This is decimating the BBC HD audience and not serving the HD viewer either.

Why are they doing this?

Must be a case of getting the most out of it in SD, then re-run it in HD so everyone will watch it again.

Re: BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

Well they have a very optimistic opinion then....as how many will? We sure wont.

And the last two series were shown at the same time or close enough.

So this is further evidence that the BBC HD trial channel was vastly superior to the full channel.

Everyone expected to see a steadily improving service and in reality it has gone backwards.

Must be budget cuts, I guess. But if they have filmed the show in HD then what does it really save not to show it on the channel in lieu of one of the many repeats?

But from what I can see of the schedule, not all of the episodes are in HD.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00d23yx/episodes/2008

Only 24hr Britain and Manmade Britain are on BBC HD.
with The City and The Land only on shown on BBC1/2

What on earth are the BBC playing at?

Re: BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

I found the programme sent me to sleep at around 9:30pm.

Wasn't anywhere near as good as his History of Modern Britain.

One area of improvement would have been a scale on the GPS maps. Even saying "This map represents 7 square miles" would be an improvement, just something to give you a clue of how big the movement was, are these vehicles moving 4 feet or 4000 miles.

On the contrary, I thought it was an excellant programme and the PQ on BBC HD was excellant.

Seeing the sewage works at Beckton in HD was not a pretty sight!!!

Re: BBC Programme Britain from above on BBC HD?

Watching a repeat right now and picture quality seems pretty bad, some of the worst I've seen in HD. Picture seems noisy and blotchy.
