3 New Sky HD Channels

DigitalSpy.co.uk

Quote:
From later on this Spring, Sky HD customers will be able to enjoy even more great content in glorious high definition as we add three brand new channels to the UK’s most comprehensive HD service.

Over the next couple of months, Sky Sports HD 3, Sky Movies Premiere HD and FX HD will be added to the line-up offering a broad range of new programming and a number of UK firsts.

Bringing the number of dedicated HD channels on the platform to 17, these channel will offer brand new HD content:

• The launch of Sky Sports HD 3 will mean Sky will be the first and only broadcaster globally to offer live high definition coverage of European Tour golf. Sky will also show World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in HD for the first time.

• FX HD will bring new series of critically acclaimed dramas to the UK for the first time.

• And Sky Movies Premiere HD will ensure the biggest and best from Hollywood and beyond are available in HD. Upcoming premieres to be offered in HD will include Blood Diamond, Mr Bean's Holiday, Flags Of Our Fathers, Fracture, Babel, and Ghost Rider. In screening 90 of the top 100 Hollywood box office hits each year, Sky Movies Premiere HD will build upon the 220 movies already broadcast in HD each month.

When these new channels are added to our existing HD line-up, Sky HD customers will be able to enjoy over 6,500 hours of stunning HD programming each month. To put that into context, that’s almost twice as much HD content each month as the combined standard definition output of the five main terrestrial channels!

We hope you agree that the new channel additions will offer yet more choice and an even richer HD experience. For more information, including details of the current HD channel line-up, please visit: www.sky.com/hd

Please keep an eye on listings for confirmation on channel launch dates. And we’ll be sure to be in touch again when we’ve more HD developments to share with you.

Until then, best wishes from The Sky HD team.
Good news on 3 new Sky HD channels.

Re: 3 New Sky HD Channels

What utter

FX HD I agree is nice.

The other 2 leave me

Surely, there is PLENTY of time each day on the current HD sports and movie channels to put the other programs in?

I foresee ANOTHER sky sports HD channel with very little HD content and another movie channel with 3 films repeated ad-nausea all day.

And I guess the extra bandwidth needed for these superfluous channels will be reflected in this years price-rise

Re: 3 New Sky HD Channels

Sounds good to me.

Some people love to moan.

Sometimes different sporting events happen at the same time. This just increases your chance that the one you want to watch is going to be shown. Sport is so much better to watch live and HD.

More HD movie channels improves the chances there will be a movie I want to watch in HD.

Moaning because this may be the source or reason for price hikes is nuts and could be used against any progress !

As MRM3 stated - Sports channels are tricky. Most Live sports are on at the same time i.e. Weekends. So its likely to have 3 live events on at once (now all in HD ) on Sat/Sun - then not much for the rest of the week.

Suits me - I only watch the sports channels when live sport it on.

Re: 3 New Sky HD Channels

Great news, I wondered when Sky Movies Premier would become HD.

Thanks OP

Re: 3 New Sky HD Channels

Will you need the HD subscription to get FX HD or will it be free like CH4 HD and BBC HD? I can currently pick up FX with my basic package.
