Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

What gives this Tuesday on BBC HD?
Hotel Babylon has been screened for the past few weeks and is half way through a repeat of the 2nd series, but next Tuesday, instead of episode 5, we get the movie Pearl Harbour instead!! Much as I enjoy watching movies in HD (yes, even Pearl Harbour!!) can't the BEEB get through one series of a show on BBC HD without messing about with the weekly slots?

Is nothing sacred?

Re: Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

I wonder what's the point of showing Pearl Harbour or any HD film when it's not in DD5.1 ?
It just seems a waste to me.

Most films on BBC HD are only stereo, so that would be the supposition. Perhaps we'll have a pleasant surprise and it will be in DD5.1. I'm not going to be optimistic on that myself though!

It could be because series 3 is starting a couple of weeks.

When The Jackal was on over Christmas that was in 5.1 so they do do it sometimes.

Re: Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

That's why I like Sky so much and I don't mind paying.

I want four things when viewing a film:-

HD (if available).

Correct aspect ratio.

DD 5.1 (if film was made with it).

No ads.

99% of the time they deliver.

Is it? That's excellent news if true. Any links?

P.S.

They kept that very quiet.

Which is why I said "Most" films on BBC HD are only in stereo.

C4HD.

That's five!! I forgot that one. Does anyone remember about ten years ago Sky put a very feint logo on their movie channels. Didn't last long, thank goodness.

Re: Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

Looks like we were being too cynical about Pearl Harbour's sound...my amp is showing 5.1 Dolby Digital. I'm recording to hard disc to watch another night on my PJ.

My amp is also showing 5.1 but unfortunately there's hardly any sound from the rear speakers. Picture looks great though !

Re: Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

The sounds is really oddly mixed as well seems to be mainly coming from the left speaker.

Also nothing being sent to the Sub.

Re: Hotel Babylon-Pearl Harbour BBC HD?

My subs definitely active but there's definitely nothing coming from the rears.

The BBC never have been great with audio on this channel.
