I didn't notice anything wrong with it, thought it was as good as anything else I have seen on HD

Yes, I thought this was very poor compared to the first series, the daylight shots were not to bad, but the night time shots were appalling, really grainy with a high noise content, this is not the first program recently on the BBC to suffer like this, Jools Hollands New Year show was poor as well.

Agreed, the close up stuff was fine as well , quite detailed in fact. But anything with a large expanse of background information and /or an area of blacks was flat out terrible. As I say possibly the worst I've ever seen on a BBC HD transmission, so much noise I was deafened.

Picture quality was a big let down after season 1, I also didn't enjoy the episode at all.
Far to much shirt lifting for me

Still surprised how poor some scenes where, really not sure how they are doing such a bad job or what is going wrong, but it's super bad in places, far worse than the SD transmission.

I don't have access to the HD broadcasts but watched last night's SD broadcast upscaled and thought it looked pretty good. By the way does the HD broadcast carry a logo/dog?
All the best

I watched this weeks episode in SD as well, I couldn't be bothered to go into the other room and watch it in HD, not sure if it's just sloth or it really didn't make that much difference
I suspect the usual the broadcasters spew out as to ease of channel identification in this multichannel age is the reason for a DOG.

Bri | Ye the normal BBC HD logo, which in torchwoods case I'm convinced is a mis advertising, they should put it on the all new LD (low def) channel. So much noise in some scenes I can 't hear the program over the 5.1 :P

Bri | Should state Bri, that only applies to Torchwood, almost all the other BBC HD stuff is excellent.

Without doubt Torchwood series 2,is by far the worst HD programme on any of the HD channels at present.
It is soley down to fast production over the application of attention to detail, fast filming techniques with poor lighting setups.
What should be a flagship of BBC HD content is actually a liability.
I just don't bother to watch it as the grain is so obtrusive. There is no excuse for excessive grain. It is just laziness on the part of the Director and DOP.

It seems daft to me that they attempt to improve the picture quality and then ruin it with a logo. I'll stick with Blu-ray and HD DVD for my hi def fix for now.
