Life On Mars US version - FX HD Friday 10PM

...though you probably already knew that...

Quite looking forward to seeing Harvey Keitel as Gene Hunt - though i'm sure some of the profanitys just won't be the same without the Manc accent...

Anybody know if this got picked up for a second season?

Re: Life On Mars US version - FX HD Friday 10PM

I had already put this in my planner.

However, I watched half the first episode before (from the usual sources) and didn't like it. I thought I would give it another go as I also didn't like the US Office and I never gave that another go but it goes from season to season.

Based on what Mudstuff has said, I'll remove the bloody thing from my planner today then!

Why is it that the whole of the planet watches American Tv programmes, good and bad, but good programmes from elsewhere on the planet have to be re-written and re-cast for the American audiences? For the most part we speak the same language.

I can only conclude that the American population are so out of touch with the rest of the world that they refuse to accept anything that has not been 'Americanised'. The show has to be politically correct, have a token ethnic and a token gay character and 'sanitized for your protection'. The hero must be all-American. For the benefit of the 'bible-belt' there has to be a moral message somewhere. Invariably the tone of the original idea is lost and the shows take a dive after a few episodes.

Re: Life On Mars US version - FX HD Friday 10PM

Anyone seen this and the original and recommend it as worthwhile?

Know it only got one series and apparently has a very odd ending as they wrapped it up as no 2nd series - but would consider it IF its different enough to be viewed after enjoying original.

I thought the first episode was decent.

I'll probably watch the season unless it starts becoming stupid.

Re: Life On Mars US version - FX HD Friday 10PM

I've seen the whole series.. my take is that it was "OK". Not as good as the UK series, but not much TV is...

It had some good storylines, and some bad ones. I though that the characters & their development was weaker in the US version, (the Chris character was particularly missing). Annie was a great character.

It felt more like a cop show, with sci-fi stuff (weirder in this version).

And the ending... less said about that, the better.

I'm not sure whether to recommend watching it or not, really. If you're bored...
