ESPN looks great value for money, the football was excellent yesterday.

I`m new to HD compared to most on here so i`m still at the getting used to it and exploring stage, i have to say that ESPN`s coverage of football based on the Tottenham v United game yesterday was top drawer, as for the match itself it was the game of the season so far in my opinion with the skill on show.

If you compare ESPN to what Setanta were offering their is no comparison, i thought the combination of Ray Stubbs, Kevin Keegan and Guus Hiddink in the studio was excellent, ive always rated Jon Champion as a commentator and he works well with Chris Waddle.

The HD quality was very good as well, i like how ESPN only charge you one amount of £9 for multi room where as Setanta used to charge you twice for seperate viewing cards.

It gets the thumbs up from me

Do you have to buy it on a monthly basis? Or could you just buy the odd game?

Setanta as a package was much better value than ESPN.

They had live Golf and Racing UK both of which were of huge interest to me, ESPN offer nothing Setanta didnt have apart from 1 HD match instead of standard defintion match a week or whatever.

Usually two matches a week in HD, monday evening games as well as Saturday evening games. baseball, College football and basketball, DTM, Bundesliga, Eriedivisie and loads of other stuff as well as NHL when it starts back up, UFC if that's your thing and possibly the NBA as well.

But all that stuff was for free on the ESPN channels before they got the Premiership rights.

UFC is of interest to me alright but at the moment i cant justify paying more than the 100 im already paying Sky per month, if they start showing loads of hi def NBA next season that may be the deal breaker for me though.

Although Eurosport snapped up PGA and Sky have Euro Tour, so there's no shortage, I do miss a dedicated golf channel when Setanta Golf went up in smoke. I even watched the golf game show Big Break...

Much prefer the sports that ESPN have compared to Setanta and there is no comparison when it comes to PQ, so ESPN everytime I'm afraid.

Re: ESPN looks great value for money, the football was excellent yesterday.

ESPN is not as great a value as i first thought, ive just found out that you don`t get ESPN classic with the ESPN package even though you pay for ESPN, its in the news package, thats a bit of a con really as what has classic sport got to do with the news ? They do the same with Eurosport.

I can`t say i`m too impressed at having paid for ESPN and i then finding out that part of ESPN which i was looking forward too is in the news package
