BBC Blog says Do Not complain about picture quality to the Head of the BBC HD Channel
Not my annoucement, the BBC's..
Just in case you had a mind to, please note you are not allowed to complain to the head of the BBC HD channel re picture quality on her blog.
Because that would be wrong and bad, right?
So, you must not complain about picture quality to Danielle Nagler
Clearly she doesn't like to talk about HD picture quality.
Because picture quality is nothing to do with HD , right?

This may lead to an interesting cat and mouse game over the next month.
Feel free to come to your own conclusions about whether they are listening at BBC HD

Re: BBC Blog says Do Not complain about picture quality to the Head of the BBC HD Cha
I think its clear Danielle has very little knowledge about HD and its very clear she is avoiding any aspect of the bandwith issue.
They seem to be advising us to wait for the wonderful Andy Quested to return so he can tell everyone the quality reductions is peoples TV sets and nothing to do with bandwith reductions.
Dont ya just love the good old beeb.

I think you are misinterpreting what that blog post says
The post is about the autumn HD schedule. That is, its about content, not quality.
Her note at the bottom actually says

It doesn't say you can't discuss quality - it just says that it isn't relevant to this post - so discuss it here instead...

Re: BBC Blog says Do Not complain about picture quality to the Head of the BBC HD Cha
I think as a leader in an organisation you've got 2 choices about complaints, you either give people the brush off politely or you address the issue head on.
Where I work , the leaders take collective complaints head on , enter dialogue and work on a compromise.
Danielle has consistently avoided direct discussion or consultation on the picture quality issue.
Now forgive me, but I find that very strange because the essence of the remit of the HD channel is picture quality.
Don't forget Andy Quested avoids discussion on birates as well, using regular diversion tactics and is on record as wanting to cut bitrates further.

Andy Quested would be a good MP. "its not our fault. Its your TV set or The production".
Nothing against him as hes only doing his job and obviously cannott speak the truth about certain things, but the blatent fob offs are a little annoying from him.

OK Scoobie, here's an alternative. While it's still there please do my PQ survey, over on the BBC PQ Blog #637.

if everyone does perhaps the BBC will take notice! Thanks.

Re: BBC Blog says Do Not complain about picture quality to the Head of the BBC HD Cha
The BBC must find a solution now that give us the PQ we demand and, rightly, expect in the 21 Century. For all like minded commenters on this Blog, I would like to reveal that on 14 Sep I finally received a personal email from the BBC HD Head, Danielle, which I consider to be the final BBC, executive, correspondence in a long process of complaint about PQ that I embarked upon back in Nov 08.
It is a long (near 1500 word), well considered and carefully crafted reply, which I strongly suspect has had considerable input from her technical guy, Andy Quested. Disappointingly however, it makes no promises for any sort of improvements, at all, to PQ or Bandwidth in the future. Its content could be easily predicted by anyone regularly reading the Blogs asscociated to HD PQ, and once again for the BBC attempts to disassociate any connection between PQ and bandwidth.
I've thought long and hard about the reply since its receipt and have decided that whilst the letter goes a long way towards explaining the problems with the provision of a satisfactory HD PQ for the BBC, and the efforts taken by their team to provide such, it does not give me any indication of how the BBC, in the face of considerable criticism from their HD viewers, intends to meet their BBC Trust licence remit to adhere to, or seek to exceed, industry standards for picture resolution.
Within the 20 day working period of receipt of Danielle's email I therefore intend to take my complaint on to the BBC Trust. I would welcome any contributions or assistance in crafting a 1000 word complaint to the Trust but, in the interest of keeping my powder dry, so to speak, I would prefer any significant contribution to be sent via a less public means than a Blog. So, if you wish to contribute send me a personal message or email.
