Sky HD - Some programs in 4:3?

Hi guys,

I noticed that some SKY HD programs e.g. sky 1 hd will play "the lion man" but it broadcasts at 4:3 ratio? does anyone know how to make this full screen?

If it was made in 4:3 why do you want to watch it in stretchy vision ?

just when you have a 46" tv its looks rather small.

Just to "stretch it" normal tv controls wont effect it.

If its on a HD channel and in 4:3 its likely to be upscaled anyway so you could try going to the SD version and see if your TV allows you to change.

Failing that, I think you'd need to set the Sky Video output to auto / 575 to send an image to the TV that you can alter.

Not a fan of stretched images myself though..

simpsons and futurama are both in 4:3 on sky hd. but the new episodes of futurama are in wide (cant comment for new simpsons as i havent seen one yet)
if u want to watch it in wide watch it on sky 1 SD. between ur tv and the hd box they should do well at upscalling it anyway

It's as wide as it is ... that's all the picture that is available.

I wonder if anyone took Leonardo Da Vinci aside and said "Look Leo, that Mona Lisa is quite good, but our wall is 33% wider than it. Do you think you could re-paint it and s-t-r-e-t-c-h it out a bit to fill the available space, there's a good fellow."
