I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

For god sake turn over now to the champs league game and see how upscaled it is. We ARE NOT stupid itv, for god's sake SHOW THE HIGH DEFINITION content on you HD channel and stop upscaling these programmes. It's not as if they have tones of programmes on the channel to work on like. you have a maximum of two high def programmes a day!!!! please make them HIGH DEFINITION ONES. im sorry but the picture on itv1 is pretty much the same as itv hd guys does anyone agree with me?

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

its the first time i have seen football on itv hd and i am shocked how poor it is, its quite dull and jerky. i saw the newcastle game on bbc hd recently and the picture was brilliant. itv should be taken off air or fined.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

no it doesnt get better this has happened numberous times before. before they used to start in full hd but then they would have "technical difficultys" and go back to upscaled sd. i think its possibly to save money or something they're cheap !!!

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

I watched this game too.

It was better than SD but not as sharp as it should have been. I checked back to SD a couple of times to make sure. Definitely an improvement but still noticeably blurry, particularly on the players from a normal long-distance perspective. ITV HD isnt as good as BBC HD from what ive seen (which isnt that much to be honest)

Mind you - if you want to see worse, watch ESPN SD! Its better than Setanta (that was terrible) but not by much.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

im just watching the arsenal celtic match on itv hd and it is much better than last weeks match between the two foreign teams i cant remember the names of, though its still not as good as bbc's hd football. is this itv's usual standard or does it get better, it looks good enough but im sure it could be better.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

I watched ITV HD for only the second time tonight, thought the footie looked pretty average to be honest, certainly compared to Sky.

Same here. Looked very average when compared to Sky. Also had picture break up issues for a few minutes as well.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

i had a quick look to see what it was like on SD and it was absolutely awful, so even though the HD wasn't as good as it should be, it was ten times better than the SD broadcast, i dont know how itv get away with it being a major channel.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

PQ was ok last night but I thought the contrast was very "bright" when compared to the Fiorentina game on Sky.

They get away with poor PQ and limited content in the same way as the BBC by playing the free to view card. Have you not noticed the renewed scramble in the media to have the cricket back on BBC or Channel 4. The increasing number of people with HD TV's and or Sky HD will just have to suffer poor PQ and generally worse coverage. You even get people on this and the HD forum defending free to view TV.

Re: I Am So Sick Of ITV "HD"

Um Im a bit confused because I watched the Arsenal v Celtic game on ITV HD last night and was very impressed!

Picture detail looked very good to me, as good as BBC HD. I havent seen ITV HD looking this good to be honest until now (but I havent watched much of it though of course - nothing much to watch!) In the second half of the game, the picture completely broke up though and I turned tv off and back on again and it was fine.

Was noticeably better than the Atletico game on ITV HD last week.

Oh, it was definitely loads better than ITV SD, but I'm just glad that ITV only get one CL game

Not that being an Arsenal fan I'll get to see many more games on ITV HD, as I'm sure chances are we'll be playing on the same night as at least one of the other 3 English clubs in the CL and therefore relegated to ITV4 or somesuch, even if we're competing with Man Utd for the main game, despite them already qualified and being away to some unknown East European side, whilst we're playing Real Madrid or someone at home, needing a 3-0 win to progress

I agree, looked pretty good to me too. Sky showed brief highlights of this game in HD later and the difference was minimal.
