Everton game on ESPN in HD but not the replays

I see the Everton game on ESPN on Saturday is in HD great, but why is the replays not in HD. Are ESPN only showing Live games in HD. not worth the £9 if that is all we get ?

Look on Sky listings in HD Programs if in HD they show up as Orange in the listings, the Live game at 17:00 hours is in Orange, no other Programs are in Orange so they are not showing it in HD.

Another Toffee fan here...

When I first read the title, I thought you meant the match will be in HD, but the action replays will be in standard def - LOL

I take it you mean any re-runs of the game will be in SD even on the HD channel. Maybe ESPN's hard drive is nearly full so they're saving space.

Re: Everton game on ESPN in HD but not the replays

Have not Sky always done the same with reruns?

Chelsea v Hull is not HD via Football First on Saturday evening.

And the rerun of Man Utd v Birmingham on Sky Sports HD on Monday morning is not HD either.

I thought this was usual practice.

The Community Shield rerun is on SS HD2 now. In HD. Seems there's no standard practice for reruns.

Are they actually broadcasting in HD though?

From what I have seen on ESPN HD it is all upscaled, the quality has been poor apart from the baseball which looked smashing but was not HD I was told.

Re: Everton game on ESPN in HD but not the replays

ESPN have also said that the SPL would be live in HD from the first match but the listings for the weekend just show it as SD. I am not surprised the replays of Premiership matches are in SD Sky sports used to be like this its due to a lack of playout server space as a HD broadcast would be a few TB of data and at a weekend you have a lot of other programmes to be stored on it.

I am sure it will improve shortly and that they are just trying a few things out at present
