Re: Scifi hd/Knightrider

I only watch the first tv movie and with some major work I thought there was a series there but when I watched the series premiere if anything it had gotten even weaker and never watched another ep.
Judging from the ratings over it's run they were not what a network like NBC could tolerate and who knows what sort of budget the show had, mind you the late season revamp did boost the audience but still well below the early episodes which rode the wave.

Like Bionic Woman before it if you are intending to remake a show that was successful a time when broadcast TV was a cheese fest and the young audience were devoid of mass market computers and gaming then you have to go the whole way like BSG did. Todays young to mid demographic won't tolerate the same sort of show the parents and grand parents may have watched for throw away amusement.

Re: Scifi hd/Knightrider

I watched the pilot/tv movie the other day and thought it was pretty well done. Had potential. I thought the girl in it was very attractive and elegant...but as with other series, once they're picked up, they change the appearance of people and parts of the show that worked in the pilot and mess them about probably because they think it will appeal to a wider audience.

I was horrified to see that the girl in the pilot had been transformed into a sleek and sexy californian it type girl with her hair straightened, darkened and make up caked on. Her appearance in the pilot matched her intelligence. Now it dumbs her down and makes it hard to believe she is capable of her role in Knight Industries. They even covered up the mole on her neck! I just hate the American way when it comes to beauty. They like to pile on the 'fake'.

They also messed with the title credits. I've watched about 5 episodes and the plots get worse everytime! Such a shame because this could have worked if they had done it right.

Is it the network execs that demand these retarded changes?

Sorry that was more of a rant than I intended!

Re: Scifi hd/Knightrider

This show REALLY frustrates me.

Watched the pilot last year and thought this is really cool and has real potential.

Waited patiently for the series to come on Sky (sci fi), got excited it was in HD and then was appalled by episode 1 onwards of the 1 hour episodes.

Any kind of seriousness that had appeared in the pilot was gone, the actors had all turned into Bill & Ted clones, hell even the car had lost its aggressive look for pursuit mode and turned into some ***** hot rod looking thing ?

Then we get comments like the KIT CAVE and GO KITT from the girls and then there is the constant childish banter / sex referencies in every episode.

Then KITT has soddin neon lights underneath it

The stories are incredibly weak.

The whole thing is just not working on any level at all.

The only reason I still (just) continue to watch it is for the select scenes we get of the car looking stunning in HD (when its not a van) !!

It could have been SO SO good if they had maybe taken a leaf out of Battle Star's book and made it darker.

As it is, they have trashed it and serves them right its been canned !

Re: Scifi hd/Knightrider

And so that was knightrider it got abit naff towards the end i think and the last episode was dire for the last in the series. I will miss Deanna Russo in hd but that's it.
