BMW Golf

Anyone know why this week's BMW is not being shown in HD? Sky have shown all the European tournaments in HD (except those from the Far East) so it makes little sense that the one that is almost on their door step is not in HD.

Re: BMW Golf

Perhaps it's being produced by the BBC who share coverage and hence no HD?

Re: BMW Golf

As Starburst rightly says Sky are using the BBC's coverage. Sky only have the first two days as the weekend coverage is on the BBC as normal.

Sky explained the lack of HD at least four times during yesterday's coverage, saying there was nothing they could do as they weren't the host broadcaster.

They pointed out that it will be back to normal next week!

Re: BMW Golf

The annoying thing is that CTV outside broadcast that produce and film all european rounds for European tour productions in HD. They offered the BBC the chance for them to provide their normal service and facilities but they declined and instead I believe SIS live (Former BBC OB ) are filming it in SD using HD ob units 10 & 12 I am told it would have cost an extra 25K to do it in HD

Re: BMW Golf

For eight hours live coverage and two highlights programmes £25k seems a bargain for the BBC.

Re: BMW Golf

My first thought is that BBC should keep out of the way and let the professionals look after things!

Re: BMW Golf

Personally I would not give any of the terestrial channels any sport at all. All sport should be looked after by Sky.
