Dexter on FX HD

It's bad enough that we have to put up with the overly large, and coloured, FX HD logo, but do we really need "UK Premiere" to be added to the logo as well.

I know it's a UK Premiere, that's why I'm watching it. I don't need to be constantly reminded of it on screen.

I wish they would show the whole bloody series of Dexter, Lost, 24 etc on Anytime so we could get rid of the stupid logos instead of just the first couple of episodes every time.

Don't get me started

I've taken to recording the second showing (it's on four times per week). Maybe I have a "problem" with perception, but I find my eyes drawn to readable text in logos and I subconciously keep reading them. Everytime the background colour changes substantially I keep re-noticing the blasted thing.

I can ignore "FXHD" and even "Sky1HD", but simply cannot blank out complete English words like "UK Pemiere", "Second Chance", "Catch Up", etc. When will broadcasters realise (or care) that they are spoiling their shows for some people ?

Whilst I'm here ... I've been "forced" to watch Fiver (Californication) and the DOG includes an extra piece of text saying "Owned". What on earth does that mean ?

Here, here. Actually (and I should perhaps whisper this) I would quite happily pay a premium to be able to access some shows DOG (and ad) free. If only there were a £10 pcm option for a sort of "enhanced Anytime" where you could check "boxes" (like setting up favourites) and be able to download shows via Anytime for a whole series (Dexter, Lost, 24, BSG).

And FX :-

Please check that you don't repeat the "C4:Desperate Housewives" error of accidentally broadcasting the start of the next scene before going to an ad break. It looks really unprofessional !

And for goodness sakes stop with the "Next Week On" jarring stuff. Do you really think that we aren't going to watch Dexter next week !!! I hate seeing such spoilers - I want to enjoy what I've just seen. I have to hit mute and watch out of the corner of my eye for the spoiler to finish. I love the closing music and want to listen to it whilst I dwell on what I've just seen. Nowadays, instead of almost a minute of ethereal music, I'm lucky to get the closing line

Regards

Re: Dexter on FX HD

I share your pain man !

So does the 2nd showing not include the UK Premiere bit then ?

I hadn't thought of that, if that's the case I may start doing that too.

The second showing (and presumably the third and fourth) just has the normal FXHD logo. It's actually not that bad a logo. It's small and not bright, nor is it 100% opaque - a big improvment over the giant version that started a few weeks ago (when simulcasting started).

I still can't get my head around there being adverts in Dexter. It's even worse the way they "sneak them in" by cutting straight to them - rather than as in "the old days" where you got a "warning" with a static card relating to the programme.

And that "Next Week On" stuff drives me nuts

Re: Dexter on FX HD

We were really spoilt in the early days of FXHD, the ad free aspect really gave the channel some status and moved it ahead of the mass of multichannels clawing for the few who don't use the PVR.

Re: Dexter on FX HD

The early days of FX HD were great. Sadly we now have Adverts and no idea whats in HD and what isnt since everything in the EPG flags as HD.
