Advice please re. DTS HD-MA

Hi all, I own an EP-10, and after much mucking around with it and my new amp Yamaha AX763, I've realised that the unit will only pass through DTS Core, which I believe means a maximum of 5.1. As I've just bought the German T2 disc, which boasts a 7.1 output, which player do I need (or players, if I have a choice), to allow me to listen to this soundtrack in all its glory? I've searched on Google etc, but can't find anywhere offering a comprehensive overview of the technical specs for the various models. Thanks for your time, any helpmuch appreciated.

Re: Advice please re. DTS HD-MA

Thanks for the reply. However, I already own an EP-10 which unfortunately only outputs to 5.1. Is the EP-30 an option? Not rated the best model, I know, but possibly available cheaply?

No mate,

XE1 & EP35 are the only ones that can bitstream HD Audio and 7.1

Yup , absolutely correct ( which is why I gave him the links to those 2 models as well as the manual to his own )

Only other models are the E1 ( too old , doesn't even play at 1080p ) and EP-30 ( which is only renowned for its ability to freeze during playback of HD-DVD discs )

Re: Advice please re. DTS HD-MA

and you need a 7.1 receiver to do the decoding whilst you bitstream from a 35 or XE1

Re: Advice please re. DTS HD-MA

Hi, thanks again. Yes, I've got a 7.1 receiver, and a full 7.1 sound system (comprised of wharfedale pacific evo 30's fronts and rears, pacific evo centre, and pacific evo back surrounds, plus mordaunt-short subwoofer), so it looks like an XE1 or EP35 then. Thanks for the advice.
