I've done the hack and tried 2 discs, one of them played ok (8 Mile R1) but the other (Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade R1) came up with incorrect region.

I'm not sure if the disc is RCE protected or not, can someone PM me the remote hack and I'll give it a go when I've watched the Manchester derby on TV

Tried it this evening and it all works a treat!!!

Haven't tried the RCE hack yet as need to get to the back of the cupboard to dig out an RCE disk.

Well thanks to Nick and friends my hd-a2 US specs plays Pal and Ntsc. It's region free and for some reason the RCE protection was not affected by the downgrade and upgrades. I don't need the remote hack for these dvds to play.I told Nick sooner or later I'll get my Pals dvds to play on the hd-a2.Thank you again..........Mel

I have now made my XE1 regionfree but I also got a E1 in my bedroom I wanna make regfree.

I have the lastest firmware installed on my bedroom player E1, so I would be very happy if someone can pm me with all the links to the firmwares that I gonna need.

Would any of you guys be kind enough to add me to a list for region free firmware and RCE hack, more than 50% of my SD,s are R1 and it would be great to free up some space under the tv. My E1 is v2.2,i would be more than happy to post on to someone else once i have used it.

just to say a "big thanks" to the guys who helped me get my E1 sorted,its now playing everything.!........except the blurry ones of course.
I am getting the weird framing/aspect sizing on the Abyss R1 but all star wars R1,aliens boxset R1 etc are playing great with the remote work around

Just tried the two nearest discs that wouldn't play before;

How I Met Your Mother - Season 2 - FOX Region 1,

The Relic - Paramount Region 1.

Both played with no trouble .

So a great little player is now even betterererer
