I keep seeing HDMi upscaling dvd players for around £30-70 in asda etc, are these the same as hd dvd players? As thats what i'm after and i don't know if they are the same thing :P

It's confusing isn't it ! They talk about HD dvd etc... but it only upscaled standard DVD.

HD-DVD players are totally different as I presume you know. They are like Blu-ray players, it was a rival format that fell victim to ... well whatever Blu-ray won and HD-DVD is no more. You'll not get any new players as Toshiba stopped producing them a while ago now, best place to look is the classifieds on here and they usually come bundled with some movies to kick of your collection as well.

Just going to go with the xbox hd dvd player then, yes really confusing :P so nearly bought one from asda, glad i didn't thanks
