Some of my HDdvd not avail on BR what to do

Its a bit OT but i have a question that i need help with.
I will be retiring my trusty toshiba HDDVD player to the bedroom, and it has been replaced with a pana bluray as it came free with the panan TV i got for the living room.
The thing is there are a couple of films (one of which both me and my brother are actually in the film "Elizabeth") that are not available to buy on bluray. I dont want to do anything illegal but as i own these films iI beleive i have the legal rights to make a backup as long as i still own the original. Anyway to the point, is it possible to read the entire disk with menus etc from HDDVD and then write it to Bluray. I'm not looking for a tut on how to do this just want to know if its poss, as i dont want to buy a pc reader/writer if not. It would be cheaper to buy the films i want, rather than to try and convert them but they are not on that format.

Are the films available on normal dvd, most panny Blu ray players upscale dvd's very well.

yeah the hddvd i have of the main one i want is a combo dvd, but i really wanted it in HD

Only a matter of time before they come out on blu. Believe the 2nd Elizabeth film is getting released in September.

Convert movie only to Bluray is possible but not with menus.

once you have the movie files on your pc its just a matter of running it through eac3to with Clownbd gui then muxing with tsmuxer
