Interesting read!

People just not that into Blu-ray • The Register

"Oddly enough, although HD DVD is technically a dead format, it's apparently doing better than Blu-ray amongst those polled. About 11 per cent said they owned a HD DVD player, while 7 per cent said they own a Blu-ray player. (Both amounts are almost definitely inflated from the average US population due to Harris conducting the survey through an online poll). About 3 per cent get their HD DVD through the external drive for the Xbox 360, while 9 per cent do Blu-Ray by way of the Playstation 3."

Re: Interesting read!

Does not suprise me. I bought my HD DVD Player only this year, well after the format died, and i have 5 Blue ray discs and over 30 HD DVD's. Mainly because of the price, but if i'm honest the HD DVD excites me, the blue ray bores me and i have no idea why.

Re: Interesting read!

Wrong format won out in my opinion! There was something easier about HD DVD, especially on a media PC that I have. But in the end I'm happy to have excellent quality HD content on whatever colour disc. HD DVD is now dead, long live blu ray and keep those prices coming down!

Re: Interesting read!

I have both formats and prefer my HD-DVD player and discs.I have Planet Earth on Blu-Ray..but still want it on HD-DVD as well for some reason. My HD collection has movies i know i'm gonna watch again and again and i enjoy tracking them down and collecting them.My Blu-Ray discs were far too expensive and i hate the tacky blue plastic cases and the original line-up of titles aimed at the PS3 people. The chubby red HD cases are more compact and look smarter on the shelf...the format is altogether more "film buffish".

I don't mean to encourage your odd behaviour, but WH Smith has been selling copies for £10 in its recent sale...

Re: Interesting read!

i believe the wrong format won,i prefer HDDVD,but the format is sadly dead.i now buy blu, although i balk at the cost of discs, however if this is the price i have to pay to enjoy the best picture and sound quality currently available, then i will continue to do so.

I'm in similar situation and couldn't have put it better.

I've kept about half a dozen recent Computer Anitmated Movies on BR but have sold on any other recent titles that were only in HD on BR that I - or more specifically - the kids wanted to watch.

But with HD-DVDs I'm always happy to keep. Although I've a penchant for Slim US cases without Certifications on the spine

Reds are still definately the "Movie Connoisseurs" format of choice

Thumbs up Re: Interesting read!

Hi dpstjp,

Laserdisc is still my ''format of choice'' and lives quite happily with my DVD / HD DVD & Blu-Rays equally.

All titles are stacked properly in i-cubes.

Laserdisc, surely!...I totally agree sir'

Honest Regards
