Re: urgent question please :)

The player in my PC can play and record both formats. But Nil102 is right - HD DVD is a dead duck.

HD dvd is a cheap way into HD. Yes no new material. Las t year I bought more than 300 hd dvd and only about 5 blu, yet my first HD player was a PS3

Blu discs are the future of mass market HD in the near term and disc and player prices are getting lower all the time.

A cheap way in may be a PC multi drive such as the LG which plays hd dvd and Blu. I prefer my standalone for PQ and conveniance, however people with better GFX card than mine or more tech savvy may come up with a different answer. ( Iplayer has also forced me to update to the latest real player which has screwed up playback on powerdvd and the drives gone walkabout canstantly having to muck about with settings is another reason why I prefer standalones)

Er you may be asking on the wrong forum, just post your question on the blu ray player forum. Give them your budget and what you intend to use it for?
I've ended up with a sony 350 and a PS3
