Sony KDL-32V5500 LCD HDTV Review

Reviewed by David Mackenzie
The Sony KDL-32V5500 is certainly a good choice for people who want a smaller screen size, but don't want to settle for bargain-basement TVs with poor quality panels.

Thanks for the review.

This has helped me choose the V over the W, saving a few pounds to put towards a home theatre system - perhaps the Sony HTS-S360 when its available.

Its never over till the ...

I have just seen the V5500 in a local shop where I discovered that a new Panasonic model is available, the TX-L32S10. The price, spec is similar to the Sony, the styling of the Pana is very good & now of course wondering how this would compare !

Ahh im really torn between this and the W5500.

Would you say the W5500 is worth £67 more (Amazon prices) for a slightly better quality LCD Panel and 100hz motionflow? I really can't make up my mind.

There is a good reason why we don't do that, basically the settings would be useless to you and your TV.

Re: Sony KDL-32V5500 LCD HDTV Review

hi phil,

not wanting to argue.. but i think basic settings would be very useful.. like brightness, sharpness, colour, backlight, and to turn off advanced unwanted stuff like contrast enhancers.. noise reduction.. i can understand that every panel may be different which is why i had my tv ISF calibrated by Gordon from av... was definetely worth it..

cheers,
mick

Thumbs down Re: Sony KDL-32V5500 LCD HDTV Review

People

If you are looking for a 100% DLNA compliant TV then DO NOT buy this product whatever you do.

This CNET review gives you the detail - don't be stuck like me with a "DLNA" TV that does not stream music or video due to Sony's proprietary implementation of DLNA.

I thought standards were just that - STANDARDS. Seems Sony's 'standards' are different to everyone elses.

If you want DLNA buy a Pioneer PDP-5020FD or Samsung LN46A750!
instead

You have been warned !

Does this review scale to the 40 inch model also?
