Good review and this pj is a bargain at a street price of <£900.

But the problem for me is the lens throw,most people get into projectors to have a BIG screen and with this pj that is the problem.You are going to have to have a football pitch length room to get a decent size image.

Phil said he got a 6ft wide image at 14ft which is pretty useless in Uk sized rooms.I suspect to get an 8ft wide screen which most of us pj enthusiasts consider to be the min. you are going to have to have a throw of 15-20ft.

nice review.

I stay in a tenement flat - the living room could more than accomodate this....nice big walls MMmmmmm. Would need an extremely long hdmi cable.... thats gonna cost £££

unless of course the receiver is moved but thats not practical....

hmmm....

still i want one!

Great review ...
was looking for a new screen and had almost settled on a 40 " LCD - this is not very much more.
Reading the review, except for the long throw, not much to critisize there, but that in itself could be the biggest problem unless you have an exceptionally large room.
Anyone aware if there are any external fittings that can be used to partially reduce the lenght of the throw and if that will affect the quality of the image?

Why is it that modern digital projector cost so much money when other modern technology has come down in price, old mover projectors and slide projectors were one thing in the past that were not that expensive ? Surely a basic one could be made for £300 - £500.

You can find some fairly good 720p machines close to what you are talking about price wise. But really this is a full HD DLP projector and we have never seen this price point before with this technology.

Projection is still a niche market and the technology is still expensive to Manufactuer.

The best place to check that is projectorcentral.com.
It worked out at just under 5 metres i'm looking at 110-112 inches

I am a little confused. According to the projector calculator on the Infocus site the X10 needs 9.6 to 11.6 feet of throw for a 72" diag. This is a lot less than the review indicated at 14 feet. I then checked this at projector central and their figures matched Infocus. Can any one explain.

Misco are doing this for £979.70, plus I think you can get 4% cashback via quidco (£39.18), so that brings the price down to £940.52.

[Edit] - I wonder if this would make a suitable replacement for my (recently calibrated by Gordon) HD70?

[Edit 2] - According to Projector Central's calculator, it needs a throw distance of 16 feet for a 95" wide/109" diagonal image (which is what I have currently from the HD70).

Why oh why am I so goddam tempted by this 1080p unit!?

Does anyone think the money I would spend on this PJ (£900 or so) will justify a leap in picture quality over my (professionally calibrated) HD70?

wow. my saviour!!! a dlp HD pj for a grand......think i might use this to replace my 7205 thats been sitting idle for the last year and a half as i dont fancy splashing £400 on a bulb and guaranteed years warranty.....

i do have one problem with the PJ, the throw length....its not LONG enough!!lol

i want to put the pj on shelves at the back of my bedroom where my kit is, approx distance from lens to screen is around 15.5ft i think. i already have a 86in screen that i dont really feel the desire to replace with a larger one.....hmm..have to wait for someone to post a thread who owns one and ask them to check for certain for me...lol

(scuse bad typing, on my netbook atm and the shift keys are hideously small)
