Panasonic PT-AE2000 1080p LCD Projector Review

Reviewed by Phil Hinton
For the money the Panasonic has everything that an enthusiast would need to achieve good quality big screen images and has some features that more expensive projectors just cannot compete with. Because of its all round superb performance and stunningly low price we can’t help but award the PT-AE2000 with our best buy badge, we highly recommend you get a demonstration of this projector if you are in the market for great quality HD pictures!

The link to the review doesn't work and is actually trying to link to the Epson TW2000 review I think?

Re: Panasonic PT-AE2000 1080p LCD Projector Review

Hi to all. I have a Panasonic PT-AE2000 which I an generally happy with for the money, bar one major issue. I cannot get smooth panning motion out of it, even with a 1080P/24 input from my Pioneer LX71. Images move accross the screen with noticable judder, which is distracting. My previous BD player and my HD DVD player were also set to 1080P/24 and it showed the same problem. Does anyone know if this is a known weakness with this PJ? I have tried various settings on the Panasonic including fast and normal frame response settings with no joy. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Rob.

This article should clear things up a bit.

The Big Judder Problem and the Overhyping of 24p

Newer projectors such as the Panasonic PT-AE3000 have frame interpolation technologies which help to alleviate this to quite a significant degree.

We have a few of these at work. They seem excellent.

When are the review team going to get round to reviewing the PT-AE3000, sure this should be high up on the priority list given the demand for it and the number of people wanting to know how it compares to the Sony HW10?

Any idea of a timescale?

How about doing a head to head comparison with the HW10 too?

I'm having a few days off and will be back to work tomorrow, I haven't had a day off in about 4 months so took the Xmas holidays up north. I will do my best to get it finalised this coming week along with the VW80 and some other items.

Interesting article. But this bit is scary:
" However, frame interpolation does increase video delay on the AE3000, and we expect it will do so on every model. So users will want to incorporate an audio delay into the system in order to resolve lip-synch issues."

How is this overcome. Audio delay yes but how ?

Almost all AV receivers, amplifier and processors on the market have the ability to manually apply audio delay to each source. It is very easy to adjust this and get the audio and video in sync with the frame interpolation turned on.

I currently have the AE3000 and a Yamha RX-V3800 and had no problems getting the audio and video in sync using the adjustments on the RX-V3800.

I currently have the AE900 and will be getting the 3000 in April if all goes well. Can anyone tell me if the mounting points are the same or is it time for a universal mount?

I currently use a univeral mount fro my AE3000 and the AE2000 before that. They use exactly the same fixings.

Phil, whatever happened to that AE3000 review that you were going to "finalise" last month?

ERm, CES and planning for Bristol and loads of other work issues got in the way. It is on the to do list of write ups, hoping to get them turned around quickly.
