Toshiba 46XF355DB 46" LCD TV Review

Reviewed by Phil Hinton
The 46XF355D offers a performance level that is certainly keeping up the pace for LCD TVs and offers better than expected black levels and a nice natural looking image when set up correctly. I can only recommend that if you are after a bargain that will perform well at the price point, you could do far worse than the Toshiba.

Re: Toshiba 46XF355DB 46" LCD TV Review

Hi, could you tell me how to get the exact scan mode up, I can't seem to find it in the menu's anywhere, does anyone know if there is a discrete code for exact scan as well, that would be really handy for my pronto remote.

finally could you list the best settings for this tv.

Thanks in advance for any advice, Adam.

Re: Toshiba 46XF355DB 46" LCD TV Review

Bought this 2 weeks ago. Yes, a lovely looking set and the picture is good, all be it the blacks lack a bit of depth.

However, in very dark scences or black bars during a movie I noticed back light bleed in the top right. Only noticable after natural sunlight faded in the evening. IT DROVE ME CRAZY !!!.

Emailed Toshiba, they said...'after looking into this for you the TV is performing correctly and this is due too the thinness of the bezil round the screen, so I have too advise you that the TV is not deemed to be faulty'

Not good enough. The retailer kindly let me send it back and pay a little more for the Samsung LE40A656......THANK GOD.....yes £850 instead of £650 but worth every penny...screen is streets ahead

Also got one of these today but i'm not very happy with it. My sharp aquos 37" 1080p is much better for sd picture and for my xbox 360 elite so unless i can get the settings sorted it's going back for a refund.

Shame though as it's v nice looking tv...when it's off!!!

I would read the revew at the top of the thread and have a look at one which is properly setup with my own eyes if I were you before dismissing it.

John Lewis in Milton Keynes now selling this for £799 including free 5 year guarantee.

Ordered one today - my second 46XF for the house. Was going to get a 46ZF, but I doubt it is worth the extra £400-700, unless anyone knows better?

Full review link here:

This should work - if not then go to Reviews tab at top of page and then search for the 46XF355DB.

I got one from Comet a few weeks ago for £799.

It's still available on their website at that price.

Re: Toshiba 46XF355DB 46" LCD TV Review

Hi - Can anyone who has one of these tv's had any problems with the light boards? We bought ours 13 months ago and the light board is on its way out. We paid £1250 for this with a 5 yr warranty with Domestic & General - Toshiba dont want to know (they cant repair it) so D & G have offered us £899 for 'scrap value' but wont honour a 5yr warranty on a replacement TV. Bag of poo!

No problems here. Anyway £899 should be enough to replace it - I paid less than that for mine last July.

Re: Toshiba 46XF355DB 46" LCD TV Review

Hi All
I have just got a line down the left hand side of the screen about 2-3 inches in from the frame, top to bottom 1-2 pixels wide, very prominent.....
It was a replacement for 42WLT66 in March 2008, so 18 months or so for these TV's is getting a regular occurance. Always make sure you get the warantee on these products.

Sometimes the line goes and returns, other times its permanent. I'll post a picture later for reference.

Here we go again..... It's s shame cos we like the thin frame of the TV

Anyone else had problems ?

Regards
Greenee

Always looking out for new Tosh LCD to replace my 32WLT58. This one seems to be a bargain.
