So overall, the S5500 is a very mixed bag and with strong competition from rivals LG and Samsung, it fails to impress in every department. Add to this the problems with inconstant backlighting and it becomes a lucky dip with some panels looking good and others suffering from an obvious clouding issue. If you are going to demo the S5500 we suggest you look out for these issues we have found with our review sample (which was sourced from a retailer and not Sony direct).

I wish the review was done before i got my 32 S5500 as i dont think i would of got one.

Its a OK tv but i was lucky to get it cheap with 3 years warranty.

Can we have the calibration settinfs used please as teh TV really needs its

Ive had this set for around 6 months and the review mirrors my experiences with the set.
For me the lack of 1:1 pixel mapping is the most irritating problem.
All my blu-rays are cropped, and the picture on the PS3 is less sharp than it should be. I shoud have checked this before purchasing, as I would not have bought it otherwise.
I cant understand why in this day and age, overscan on HDMI inputs is applied, there's no good reason for it that I can see.
What do you think the chances of Sony releasing a firmware update to give us a 1:1 pixel mode are?
