Corsair XMS3 or Vengeance?

Are these actually the same ram but with different heatspreaders?

Is one better than the other?

For what it's worth, I think they're basically the same. Check the voltage though - some XMS3 runs at 1.65V and some at 1.5V - whereas all Vengeance runs at 1.5V or 1.35V.

Unless you're overclocking the RAM at all or overclocking the CPU on a non-Sandy/Ivy Bridge system, the RAM's performance specs won't affect you - 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 RAM will all be the same, aside the aesthetics and heatspreaders.
