Lost Platoon is fantastic for Firefight, an instant classic. You can't play with randoms, though - there's no matchmaking for Firefight (which is a definite drawback).
I can see why so many people love CoD4 - it's a fantastic game, and I really wish I hadn't traded it back when I did. But I think Halo is just a completely different and unabashedly old-school FPS, and the two don't really bear much comparison.
Don't get me wrong, ODST isn't without some issues (lag on co-op campaign, firefight AND the new maps being just one of these factors), but the story does definitely improve. In many ways, though, ODST is an odd game, and it can't decide whether it's a budget expansion pack or a full-price game. Even the £30 price tag doesn't quite clear things up.
ODST is undoubtedly popular - and rightly so, even if it's just for the new Halo 3 maps - but let's wait to see what Halo: Reach has to offer before MW2 takes all the plaudits.
Can't wait for MW2, though. It's looking great so far (apart from silenced sniper rifles - that has me worried).
