Can't see any other players on Xbox Live

I've only signed up to Xbox live yesterday (Friday evening), but since then, every time I go onto Halo 3 on line, I can enter the game zones fine, but can't see any other players logged in ... at all. There must be others out there, so what could I be doing wrong? Or is there really noone else playing the game online? I haven't got any freiends yet (sigh) - can you only see friends?

Not entirely sure what you mean by not being able to see other players, but the way you start a game in Halo is to go in a matchmaking lobby, select a playlist and start a search for a game. You'll soon enough be playing with others then!

Seeing as how England are boring me to distraction i thought i help out here:

From this screen: (the first one that comes up when you load Halo)

Select MATCHMAKING (3rd option down)

You will then be presented with this screen:

This is the main Mulitplayer menu screen. From here you can select what gametype is is you want to play, like Slayer(deathmatch) Capture the Flag etc, click on PLAYLIST and you will get this screen:

Select the gametype you want and you'll return to the menu shown in the 2nd picture. Then just click START MATCHMAKING and you'll be placed into a lobby with other people wanting to play the gametype you selected.
