Im a halo 3 noob and i need to know a few things:

1. Can i unlock the spartan officer achievment by playing lone wolves ?
2. When i play lone wolves i usually get 1EXP every game, does this get harder to get EXP the higher i rank up, or if i dont get a certain amount of points do i not get EXP.

1. Can i unlock the spartan officer achievment by playing lone wolves ?

Yes. That's the short answer. The real answer is that this achievement is now glitched, but can still be earned, and has been glitched since TU2 (the last patch). Now, you have to get to level 10 (skill) AND earn 50 exp to get the Lieutenant badge in a single playlist.

As far as I know, you can do these two tasks in separate playlists. You can get to rank 10 in Lone Wolves, then win 50 games in Big Team to earn the Lieutenant badge, and it will unlock. Or you could just do the whole lot in one playlist. Up to you.

You will always earn 1 exp for winning (unless you're playing in a weekend-only double exp playlist, where you'll get 2!). You will always lose 1 exp for quitting. When you quit (or disconnect), the negative exp won't show up until you complete your next game. Also, I believe you can quit Rumble Pit and Action Sack without being penalised.

Rank, which can fluctuate between 1 and 50 depending on performance, becomes harder to change as you play more and more games in a particular playlist.

In other words:
Rank is variable.
Experience is cumulative.

Also winning in Lone Wolves is coming in the top half ie 1-3.

I got it reaching 50xp in team slayer... Without getting to rank 10

If you wait till Sep 22 you can buy Halo 3:ODST which will have all the map packs to date plus 3 new maps, a new campaign and a new Firefight mode (think Horde, L4D, COD Zombies) ZOMG!

I ment social slayer... but either way just hit 50xp in any playlist, trueskill didn't make a difference to me

So Halo 3: ODST is basically like a GOTY version of halo 3. Or is it a totally new game with a new achievment list? I dont understand as ive been told so manyu different things So i could trade in my halo 3 and still be able to play it in ODST ?

The ODST disc has 1000 new points for both the new campaign and firefight mode whereas the Halo 3 multiplayer disc just allows you to get all of the multiplayer Halo 3 achievements I presume. The only thing you don't get in ODST is the original Halo 3 campaign so if you wanted all of the Halo 3 achievements you could play through the campaign and finish off all of those achievements and then sell that disc and buy ODST for the multiplayer and new campaign.

The truth.

In summary, then, ODST has:

• New Halo campaign
• New Firefight mode
• All Halo 3 multiplayer content/function
• No Halo 3 campaign

I am looking forward to starting (finishing?) the "road to recon," too!

Did we find out that some of the recon achievements are ridiculously hard? Maybe I got that from the leaked (fake?) achievements a while back. Hopefully some of them are as fun as Annual .

Yeah, those achievements were confirmed by Bungie as fake in a weekly update, IIRC.

I think some of them will be absolutely stupid, yes! I imagine a fair few will involve Legendary difficulty and both campaign and Firefight. Can't wait to see what! Not long now! Just over a month. And with two weeks today until Batman is released, I'm hoping the time will fly by! Especially if the rumours are true and we do get a MW2 beta on September 10th...
