OK this may sound stupid

Was thinking that one day i'd go back and play Halo 1 and 2 again (still have the original Xbox games).

I think there was something way back when about these games playing ok on the 360 since the Xbox is long gone. Were they supposed to look a tad better tan before (upscaled by the 360?).

Just thought it would be cool to play Halo 1 again and have it look as good as Halo 3

Yeah Halo 2 looks lovely played on the 360, (almost a HD look) assuming Halo:CE would look just as good. Looks good anyway i was astonished when i first played that game on the old xbox.
Or you could try the PC versions for the proper higher res ur after.

Halo and Halo 2 play well on the 360. But Halo CE looks poor compared to Halo 2 on the Xbox.


Halo is still a fantastic game and plays well, but you have to remember this is a 2001 game that was first gen for the console and originally a MAC game.

On the anniversary of (the announcement of?) Halo a few weeks ago I started replaying both the old games on PC. Halo CE on PC looks pretty similar to the Xbox version but Halo 2 looks far better and is more comparable to Halo 3 graphics wise when on high settings. The levels don't look as good as 3 but the character models appear quite similar, even if they aren't as detailed up close.

I havn't re-finished Halo 2 yet though, I forgot how much I don't like the flood levels and havn't got passed the second encounter with them.

I remember struggling with the Flood in the 1st one!

Library on Legendary anyone Took me a while to do to say the least.

Halo 2's the only one I never managed to finish on Legendary so I have uinfinished business there.

Perhaps when the new Xbox comes out, Bungie will release all 3 games in full on 1080p.

Given that my interest in gaming is waning (Halo, a few racing games and the odd spot of Guitar Hero are all that do it for me these dayts) that would be one of the few things to persuade me to get another console after this one..

I wouldn't have thought that it was out of the question as quite a few games have had HD remakes this gen.

Personally I feel that it would be good to redo all 3 for the next generation of consoles. Bungie could also knock them all out as multiplatform as well (seeing as they are no longer a subsidiary of MS) and rake in the cash from loads of Playstation gamers who may not have dabbled with the original games.

Would be great if they did with achievements too.

It's the future of Halo without Bungie that worries me.

Halo 3 still amazes me to this day.

I can't imagine a Halo game without Forge,Meta,Theater and the online service record like bungie.net provide.

I have played lots of games on lots of platforms in my life and the full Halo 3 experience is by far the greatest gaming experience i have had.

Microsoft owns the Halo IP fella, I can't see that happening

If remakes were made I doubt it'd be Bungie anyway, I think they want to (unfortunately ) move on from Halo.

To be honest it would probably be for the best for Bungie to move on as it would be a waste for them to spend their time doing hi res versions of old games. If MS/Bungie wanted to make some cash then they could make the old games multiplatform if they remade them. MS would probably not be interested in that though as they are much more concerned with building market share than profit.

On a personal level i'd like to see a high res, redone version of Halo CE, but I found Halo 2 to be a bit dull personally so wouldn't dabble with a remake of that.

Yep. 2 was the weak link in the trilogy.

Halo CE was THE game that got me back into gaming after several years of absence. The days/weeks I spent playing that on my system in DD sound were immense with hour after hour flying by. One of the reasons why it's my all time No 1 game

I do agree that Halo CE was better in some regards than Halo 2, but Halo 2 was very important in the Halo story, and without it Halo 3 couldn't have been the game it was.

Halo 2 really advanced from Halo in terms of graphics and online play, and after watching the upgraded cutscenes with the Halo 3 Legendary had a fantastic story, especially the parts where Master Chief had to leave Cortana behind and she was trapped on High Charity with the flood.

I still get goosebumps when Cortana said 'Don't make a girl a promise you can't keep'.

You can already buy a high res version of Halo CE via Xbox Live. The downloaded game is in higher definition than the original. It still doesn't compare to Halo2 but it's better all the same...
