Which is the easiest playlist to skill up?

Grrrrrrrrr!!

I am skill 14 on Lone Wolves and cannot skill up no matter how hard i try.

I admit i am not the best player.I prefer the objective games,King of the hill,Oddball to Slayer.

It's so fustrating for me.I desperately want to increase my skill rating.

Any tips?

Failing that,if anyone wants to come over and help me then they will be rewarded.I live in North Lincs.

Unfortunately Lone Wolves is the fastest, but because it is solely on you it is not easy. Team slayer is the opposite, not as hard as wolves but very slow. Squad battle would be ideal with it's fairly common objectives (CTF and Assault) but that seems to be mostly populated by people 45 skill+ for some reason. If you have a good friend you could try doubles, it is quite fast to skill up in and about average difficulty early on. It also has oddball and KotH. Of course even if you don't have any one to play with you could just party up with a stranger that you have a good game with, that's what most people do.

Good luck .

Re: Which is the easiest playlist to skill up?

Well, I personally think that the matchmaking/highest skill in Halo 3 is actually broken, courtesy of all the boosters/2nd accounts that now seem to infect pretty much every playlist. So with this in mind, I would give yourself some very realistic targets if you're looking to improve your highest skill, as you'll reach a certain level and get stuck, as you can't string enough wins together to keep increasing, as you'll come up against the team of 5 star generals who are all playing on their 2nd accounts......in Mexico......and they get host.

Having said all that, I think there are playlists that you could move up in, and there are some definite ones to avoid.

SWAT is worth a try, as once you get to something like level 10 you should start to play more genuine people (you'll get boosters at 0-10), and assuming you do quite well in the playlist, you could get up to 20-30 pretty quickly. Another good thing about SWAT is that the games are very quick, so you can rattle through a few games in quick succession, and if they're winning games, then you could climb a few ranks in a short amount of time. The drawback with SWAT is that it ultimately comes down to who has host, as that split second advantage can make all the difference....

Another (if slightly more drawn out) good playlist is Team Slayer....again, I find there are slightly less boosters in this playlist, and seeing as it will still take a well placed grenade and a few shots from the BR, you've got a chance to escape and regenerate your health. Your best bet would be to add some of the guys who frequent the Halo threads on here, and jump in for some Team Slayer action.

And quickly, the ones to avoid:
Team Doubles (booster/2nd account central)
Squad Battle (should be renamed Lag Battle, rarely get playable connection)
Lone Wolves (takes too long in my opinion)

Good luck on your quest. I personally have given up all hope of improving on my 46 (in SWAT), as I just think that the system has been broken by so many idiots running boosting accounts. But I do think its still perfectly feasible to get to 30-35 fairly easily.

Re: Which is the easiest playlist to skill up?

I agree with Viper - set yourself a target. How high are you aiming?

I'd stay away from Lone Wolves anyway unless you love it. Technically, it's the playlist requiring the least wins to keep ranking (three, according to the Trueskill explanation) , but it's too damn close most of the time, and you can often end up missing out on the top spot by a single kill or whatever. I got my commander (35) in LW, but I pretty much hated every game past about 20 in LW, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a fondness for FFA gametypes.

I'd also go with Team Slayer. I managed to hit 40 in it, and for my money it's the most forgiving playlist compared to the others (although that's not to say it's easy). The main problem with all playlists now is that ranks 0-10, sometimes 0-15, are rife with boosters. It starts to even out a bit as you climb, but even so, it actually makes starting out much harder than it was a few months after Halo's launch.

Definitely, definitely avoid Team Doubles - it's easily the worst playlist for boosters/second accounts.

I would offer to help you on a second account - I set one up the other day - but first off, I'd be as bad as all the other boosters then. Secondly, since my Xbox was sent off for repairs, I am unable to load the DLC maps on the second account. That means the only ranked game I can play is LW. I guess I'll be okay again once I get the MP disc with ODST...

Re: Which is the easiest playlist to skill up?

Is Doubles really that bad now? When I was complaining about boosters in it that was because I was playing with my 47 friend whilst I was a 28 so it gave us a mixed party and was always one second account at 45 with a -xp friend closer to me which is why they got put against us. I didn't know it was so infested with boosters that playing none mixed parties had 2nd accounts too . I used to play it all the time a year ago when I got to 20 and it was fine, I just presumed the reason I found so many boosters was because of the mixed party I was in.

To zamwessell then I suppose Team Slayer or SWAT would be the best, although it sucks that there aren't any playlists with more objectives for you.

Team Slayer is your best bet.

Off topic, but billy, would you like to play halo with me sometime? You seem to be quite an avid player (just as i am)?
