How do you find out what type of game mode is for the next upcoming weekend?

They sometimes announce them in advance in the Bungie weekly updates. Check back to the updates near the end of May - they should have a Matchmaking Playlist section.

9 times out of 10 it's always crappy Griffball anyway although I quite enjoyed the Living Dead one that was last weekend

Once I buy my 50 of Lee I'll need to play a lot of double XP to rank up to General

And of course you know NEVER to do that don't you?? That's a one way ticket to a lost account, credit card fraud, and a whole host of other problems.

Seriously though, I find it hard to believe peope want to skill up so badly that they'd pay someone else to recover their account. It's madness.

In answer to my own question: I believe it's Team Flag this weekend for double exp (all DLC required)
