What do i need for True hd audio

Hi all, I'm just wondering what i need to do to get Dolby true hd and DTS hd from my setup, do i need to install a different graphics card?? if so which one?? or a different sound card. I use Cyberlink ver 8 and Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre, I have an Onkyo 806 amp.

Thanks in-advance.
Martin

Re: What do i need for True hd audio

probably need a dedicated sound card, but the cost of these with truehd is quite high, something like this: Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Sound Card (90-YAA086-0UAN00Z)

Re: What do i need for True hd audio

There's a very well detailed thread on Avsforum.com, basically do not upgrade yet, still some issues, like no 24p with ASUS for example:-

Factual & Unbiased HTPC HDMI HD Audio + Video Roundup Thread - AVS Forum

I convert to mkv / flac, and then use analogue output for audio, good guide (again from Avsforum.com):-

Either way its cheaper to get a standalone BluRay Player, there are some really cheap deals at the moment.

Thanks for the replys and help,,, Asus card also has no HD-DVD support either.. Shame.

the really question is, does it really matter about hd audio? if there that much of a difference that it justifies the extra money
