Best system for Freesat HD?

Hi folks
I want to get a HTPC that will run dual displays - one HD 22" monitor for pc work, edit video, watch tv/video etc. and the other display will be an analogue TV (will upgrade to HD in the future) to watch tv . I want to use the monitor and TV at the same time, but each doing their own thing (i.e. not clone).

I'm looking for advice on 3 things.
1) Is a 8800GT nVidia Graphics card up to the job in terms of silence, nView multi room feature and power? If not what would you suggest?

2) Is it safe to assume that HD freesat when it arrives, will be unencrypted (I'm in Ireland). I.e. can I go ahead and get a DVB-S2 pc card now?

3) Is there any DVB-S2 card out there that will be able to use the interactive service/"red button"

Muchos gracias.

Davin

Re: Best system for Freesat HD?

I don't 'know', but I would think that the free sat might be free to air and may need a card or something.

I would hold off a few months on the purchase of a DBB-S2 card and see what will work.

I'm waiting to find out too, but I want the HD stuff BBC1 Channel 4 ITV, etc so I am waiting.

Re: Best system for Freesat HD?

With the announcement that HD on Freeview is a long way away, I'm interested in Freesat HD too.

the technology is changing so fast, and I don't want to get the wrong thing. However, a HTPC/PVR based on a PC with a DVB-S2 card seems to be the solution.

PS. What happened to the Sticky/FAQ on satellite cards for PCs?
