Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

Im using an ATI 3650. I use Theatertek for SDDVD and PowerDVD for Bluray without issue. I am using XP MCE (SP2)

IT is installed fine according to device manager and the Pinnacle software finds 60+ channels. It just won't display them without that error and MediaPortal doesn't know it exists.

I will try re-installing the driver only and see if MP sees it.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

Old versions of MediaPortal used a card database to identify cards rather than doing it on the fly for any BDA device. Are you using the latest release with the TV Server?

How about this tool?

Yeah just looked at the website and notice the new TV server. I was using MP 0.2.3.0.

Reinstallation made no difference. However, I noticed a Windows Media Center directory on the CD. I have just run the Setup from that. Made no difference to MP but MCE can see both tuners on the Pinnacle and the BlackGold. Works great.

Just need to get another aerial or can I just split the one I have into two for that.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

Anyone had any success with the remote outside of the pinnacle software?

I was hoping to control Mediaportal with it.

Ordered one of these from Play - £35 less 5% (code from UK Hot Deals) and 4% Quidco, so at £32 sounds a bargain. I plan to run with Vista 64 and DVB Viewer so I'll post back how things go.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

You'll have no worries with getting it running on Vista 64. It is the rock solid reliability I was expecting from Black Gold.

Mediaportal is running like a dream with all recordings having been made. BBC HD is running and recording absolutely dandy.

Top recommendation, and a complete bargain!

Just a bit disappointed by the information available from Pinnacle. They must be discontinuing the card as there is virtually no mention of it on their site.

My biggest wish is to get the remote working with MP, since it is really tiny and has the majority of features you need.

The one I received was white, but here is a pic of the same remote in black... - it is only about 8cm long

The Pinnacle software DOES NOT work with Vista 64.

This, in itself, is no major issue since it is not meant to be very good!

One downside is that the remote does not seem to work. I have tried playing around with the profiles.ini and just can't get it up and running, at all.

A few people on the Pinnacle forums (here) seem to have had more luck at getting it working with x64, but I am bored of fiddling now and will just invest in a Windows remote (perhaps the 360 since it looks good).

Other than this, the card is running beautifully and I am delighted with the purchase.

If anyone does have any luck with the remote (known as type B) on their 64 bit system, please drop me a PM with your profiles.ini file as I do think the remote looks smart.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

I'm thinking of buying one of these but i have a quick question about pcie. I have a micro atx asus p5k-vm which has 2 pcie slots one used by my graphics card and one pcie x4 slot can i use this card in the x4 slot i've looked at some pics of the card and it seems to only use a small portion on the header.

If i can't use it does anybody know of an alternative that does dvb t+s and uses pci a have two free slots.

Cheers

when i try to install the universal dvb drivers from here: http://www.universal-mce.de/

it says i dont have any valid bda drivers installed
media center also doesnt recognise any of the tuners (not even the DVB-t ones)

however the driver seenmed to install ok..
(from here: http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFi...ReadmePCTV.htm)

It's very odd. I han't even heard of this card until a few weeks ago but trawling back through some forum & newsgroup postings it seems to have been announced nearly two years ago. There is now no mention of this card on any of their web sites (US, UK, France etc) that I could find except driver downloads. The fact that these cards are being flogged off at bargain prices makes me think that they are discontinued &/or some wholesaler overstocked on them. Buy them when you can because when there gone they are gone! Perhaps Pinnacle have plans for a DVB-S2 version?

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

My 7010i arrived from scan yesterday, I also ordered a PCIe X1 flexi riser (reversed) from LinITX to allow me to fit this card in my Artisan box.

All good, the card fits no problem, and the 7cm flexi riser is plenty long enough. The only concern here was the fact the risers ribbon connector fouls on some capacitor cans before it was fully inserted into the PCIe on the motherboard (Intel DG33TL). This is only for one of the PCIe slots and there is still plenty of friction so I am not that worried but it may be better to go for the normal flexi riser for this slot (rather than the reversed one) I'll investigate further.

The card was detected in MCE (vista32) and I just let it do its thing (as previously suggested, with no problems.

Scanning for channels seemed a bit hit and miss, first scan found 22 channels, after another I got to 36 and was not able to find any more.

Started to preview some TV, all looked good. Channel changing can be really slow ranging from 1-5 secs, the viewing channel will freeze instantly and then you wait, sound for the selected channel seems to come in fractionally before the picture starts but all is synced.

Tried putting it to sleep, when it came out of sleep I got the message "No Tuner Found!" Just like the BlackGold!!!!!!! I thought I should perform a full reboot before I call the jury back. After the reboot I could not repeat this or any other failure, tried dual recordings etc. All seems good!

Performed some more scanning for channels, now up to 70..

I will test it out for a week and if all is still well I will buy another 7010i and flexi riser, giving me 4 CHANNELS!!!!!! All for less than a BlackGold BGT3540!

Needless to say the BlackGold card is going back

just ordered mine from scan it's worth a go for £30 it's cheap. Also ordered a samsung 1Tb drive and a couple of other bits. Don't you just hate the internet it makes buying stuff you don't really need so much easier

I'll just have to fit it all before the mrs notices

Did you (or for that matter anyone else) manage to solve the Vista64/4GB problem you mentioned earlier?

I'm running a similar config and, sure enough, BSODs galore when scanning for channels - I tried Vista Media Centre, MediaPortal and also "Cyberlink PowerCinema (Not Responding)" (funny name with that last one, but that's what it usually says in the title bar, so that's obviously what it's called), all with the same result.

I didn't realise there was a general problem with PCIe cards and 4GB - I googled a bit and found some inconclusive info, but it seems to relate mainly to graphics cards, and was supposedly sorted out in a hotfix included in SP1.

I didn't try pulling any RAM out, but I reinstalled Vista32 and it seems OK, presumably because it can't see the full 4GB. Hardly an ideal solution either way though... I paid for that RAM and I want to use it all, dammit...

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

has anyone got this card working in MCE with DVB-s yet?
i'm having some issues....

i think i've finally managed to get the card recognised properly, after a rebuild vista detected the card & installed drivers, then i installed pinnacles MCE app (which i assume installs BDA drivers?) & then i installed the Universal DVB-s Filter Drivers

havent tried scanning channels yet... but when i had it up to this point on my previous install it found nothing...

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

hi guys!

i've bought mine from ebay a couple days , and just recived it yesterday , it's true that's the remote was ridiculous.

well, when i try it with pinnacle control center , i've found all of the french tnt and analog channels.

but under mediaportal RC1 , only 1 transponder was found , with my old PCTV 310i all trnasponder was ok.... tonight i'l make more tests , creating other hybrid assosiations as : http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-...rs/HybridCards

so looking around over the net i could find that packard bell was using this card in thier Imedia Series (synthoniser 6 in 1) with powercinema 5.
i think we couldn't find more info about this card because it's an oem card disigned to be inclued in congif like packarbell do.

excuse my bad english , i try to do my best.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

I've got two 7010i cards now fitted in my Artisan, both on flexi extenders!

Used the MCE Tuner Extender to enable all 4 tuners and it all seems to work!
Early days still but I was able to perform 4 simultaneous recordings.

The problem I encountered is; I'm using DVB-T and I have to split the aerial 3 ways (no booster), as I have pace twin tuner (for the wife while I prepare the VMC to general use). The signal seems only strong enough to split 2 ways. Perhaps I'll try better cable.

Is it possible to get digital boosters or do I not want to go there? This is only a problem short term as if all is stable I'll be retiring the Pace box very soon.

Argos do some cheap and cheerful boosters which claim to be digital compatible, I'm using one at the moment and it works fine. They range from 2 to 6 way.

Re: Pinnacle 7010i PCIe Dual DVB-T / DVB-S/ Analogue

Mine arriived at work today, I need about 8 metre satellite cable to connect it though, where is best to get that from? I looked in a few shops at lunch and none of them or the usual PC websites seem to have any, is it a trip to maplins and make my own? Is it easy?
