GTX 670 Vs HD7950

Hey, so im about to buy a new graphics card and im not sure what to get
I game at 1080p, and games i have trouble maintaining 60fps on atm are

Crysis
GTA 4 Icenhancer
Skyrim Enb series
Just Cause 2
Crysis 2
Metro 2033
Battlefield 3

Both cards would be oced, which do you guys think is the better option now. The reviews seem to be old and using dated drivers, thus me asking here for current info

Thanks

The 670 is a faster, more expensive card than the 7950, they are not really in competition with each other the 7950 is about £250 and the 670 closer to £300. I don't think either of them will have any problem at 1080p in any game and they are both decent value, mind you the 7850 can manage 1080p fine too and that can be OC

The 670s are £290
7950s £270

So not to far off imo, i mean oced apparantly they trade blows is the general opinion

But your saying the 670 is faster. Do you have any benches or such?

Thanks alot

GTA IV and Skyrim both like lots of CPU so are you sure your current one is sufficient?

Battlefield 3, which doesn't need much, does suggest you could do with the graphics upgrade though.

As to latest results, Techpowerup are pretty good, here is a review using the latest beta drivers and most of the games on your list. They are testing at 1920x1200 and and maximum settings which is obviously unobtainable for you (unless you're buying multiple cards) but it should give you an idea of relative performance in a worst case scenario.

Yeah, they test at maximum settings with single cards.

I was just saying that you can't achieve 60fps in some games at their maximum settings with the cards you're looking at - for example in metro 2033 they average 28-30fps - unless you're looking to buy two or three 7950s/GTX 670s.

You'll probably get 60fps without a problem on a single card if you turn off the one or two most demanding settings.

check these benches

HARDOCP - 2560x1600 FXAA Overclock Comparison - GALAXY GTX 660 Ti GC OC vs. OC GTX 670 & HD 7950

You can get the MSI TF3 HD7950 3Gb with AMD 3 games promo for £240. The KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2Gb is £312 and 4Gb is £350. Whether you want PhysX and depending on what resolution you play on is all a factor. But is the GTX670 worth £70 more for a slight increase in performance is up to you.
