Advice re pci3 graphics card

I bought a msi gtx670 card for my new pc.
The motherboard is asus p8177-v,
Processor intel i7 3770k,
8gb Viper Xtreme Series PC3-15000 1866MHz.
ocz mod stream pro 600w psu.
i installed all of the components but the card is not recognised. There is a picture but its not very good quality.it shows as a standard vga card in hardware profile. i checked the pcie slot using my old card and it worked so I think maybe the psu is not powerful enough to drive the card.
is there a definitive way to tell if this is the case as i dont want to spend another £70 on a new psu if the problem lies elsewhere.
any help is appreciated

Your PSU is fine for the job of running a gtx 670. The recommend is 500w.

Try uninstalling the driver & reinstalling it ?

If you never installed the driver for the GTX670 it will use the standard VGA driver, which I would guess is the case right now so the card has not been installed. Did you uninstall your old graphics card before installing the new one?
