Radeon hd 6950

Hi, just updated my graphics drivers from amd website 12.4 rivision number, looked in device manager and it shows driver version 8.0, is this correct because when i start a game it tells me to update drivers, showing me that i have 11.4 and need to be at least 11.7. thanks

Yeah, it's normal. The 12.4 is for the whole catalyst package and the drivers have their own specific version number as well.

8.0 doesn't sound right for the overall driver version though though, I currently have the 11.9 Catalyst package installed and the "Driver Packaging Version" for that is 8.961, although the 2D driver is 8.01 so maybe you're looking at that line?

Silly question maybe, but did you run the Catalyst installer after you'd downloaded it from the AMD website?

Surely you had drivers installed prior to this update?
I'd download driver sweeper, uninstall CCC and run driver sweepe
Restart then run the new driver installer

I had the same problem the other day.
As above, uninstall the old catalyst control panel and drivers. Use driver sweeper, restart and install the new drivers
